Well that works for me, being that i have worked at a zoo for 17 years and manage a Non-Profit doing wildlife conservation work in the tropics. But, I might trade that to play like him ;)

I'm in no hurry to rush your genius along, Peter. But Kirk did tickle our asses with a feather, so I figured you had a new trick or two up your sleeve for this party. Congratulations on getting Lee on the REDDI. He's a truly big deal. But now that he has one, I think he should go back and re-record all that old stuff ;)

Thanks Jimmy,

I've known Lee for a few years now and the man is just a great person in all respects.
I think he would like to get paid to re-do all those parts again :D

I was able to get a pic of Da Man Kirk with my sweetheart wife in the background wearing a REDDI hat :) .
If you look closer you will see some of the products/toys.
To be honest.........I was really happy to hear what everyone said about ALL the new prototypes.
The Event was a great hang...........I was able to hook up with some new people and hopefully made some new friends at the same time.

Heard a tiny bit about the new stuff but was waiting for you to make it official so I don't step on your thunder or anything. Next time, though, put your wife in front of Kirk...we see enough of his mug ;)

The gain on this is 40dB at this point in time.
There is still a ton of work left to do of course.
It has the same PSU/ and output transformer as the REDDI but the amp section is completely different.
There is an ECC99 tube with some VERY high end Caps in there that are not in the REDDI.

What I was told at the event when people played thru it was it sounded like an SVT.
You can get some grit out of it by simply digging in when you play.

There is more but I'm not real sure what will happen tone wise once we start working on it again.
At this point I am thinking a 10dB PAD for the front but like I said not real sure about anything right now.

The only thing I am sure about is, I will only be doing very short runs every year.
Not even sure if the name will be the same as the REDDI.
Maybe REDDI LTD......maybe.... but it hasn't even hit Beta yet.

I'm sure Kirk will chime in more with his opinion about how it sounded.

Here's another kick in the head.......I brought the Blue Box down as well...........I call it G Spot :hiding: BUT I think we will be calling it KGB. People seemed to like it has well.
This caught me so off guard being solid state and in your face, but I had to hear what people think about it for Bass. My thoughts were that this KILLS for guitar and keys..........and I thought it was cool for bass as well.
So it goes to show you that you NEVER know what people will like until you build it and they play through it.

It's a crazy biz we're in ;)

The products are still a long way from being released but with any luck I'll survive!
I still have the Dual REDDI to complete too!! :help:

I think that's a great idea to have a SS DI as well. Me, I love tubes, but let's face it...there are some bassists out there who actually prefer solid state. Crazy, I know ;) And while KGB might be less...well, you know...I really like the name G Spot.

As for the Black Box REDDI, I am intrigued. Not that I need high gain necessarily, but I am very much a fan of digging in a little and pushing my signal slightly over the cliff.

BTW, you will be interested to know that I got a PM on here a couple days ago about some clips I did comparing my awesome new EMG Geezer Butler P and PJ pickup sets to the previous pickups I had in my Precisions (blatant plug). He writes something like, "Man, I have never heard tone like that out of any of my basses. Mind if I ask what you're doing to get that sound?" In retrospect, I think I should have told him.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Just kidding...I told him.

REDDI owner here with some A-Designs positive feedback... I just picked up a Pacifica second hand from a friend. It was in rough shape but Peter was extremely generous in taking the time to figure out what was needed to get it back to like-new and is sending me the replacement parts.

I just wanted to drop in and share how great Peter and the folks at A-Designs are to work with. They go above and beyond to help out their customers, even someone like me who did not buy direct. As an owner of both a REDDI and Pacfica, I am absolutely thrilled with the products and level of service. Anyone on the fence about A-Designs, don't hesitate for a moment, they're a great company. Thanks, Peter!

PS- I'll be coming back for an MP-2A in the near future. :)

So nice seeing you Peter.. Its really privilege to hang and chat with you.
It was all for a GREAT cause this week in LA. It was for the Animals.. You guys raised a larger sum of money this year than last,that will be matched 3x by an anon donor!

Peter just about wrapped up the Tech data on Black REDDI Limited Edition.. Darth REDDI ! HA

As usual in these GTG events .. Bass Shows NAMM etc. there is allot of ambient noise. But Peter turned me onto a real nice set of headphones that he has with him that helped block out the other stuff.
The Dark REDDI.. mmm " dark Matter" to me sounds thick in the low mids and mid mids, with equal lows as the Red REDDI...
It DEF has more gain.. No doubt abut that.. And in a GOOD way.. What is nice about that, is if you are running into a pro recording situation, you would not need to GAIN up your signal to hit the Protools or other converters to get level closer to "0"...
I usually go bass to REDDI to BAC500 into protools ( or at my home studio RME) converter,,,Or at times they will take the REDDI in to a neve or api or whatever preamp into their converters,
The Dark REDDI, has tones of gain so (im guessing ) you can go straight into your converter off your bass,.

In fact, Im betting that you can easily drive any commercially available Poweramp to full powers with just your passive bass into the dark REDDI into a poweramp.

There is a tonal difference between the two, REDDIs . But they are in the same family of tone. IMO..
I am not as good as others in detailing every minutia and documenting it// I do point out the obvious though.

What is cool about the dark REDDI is if you want to GET ON IT and dig in.. you can get some harmonic content happening when hitting it hard on the front end... And it sounds good.
Peter said he is going to maybe add a -10 db switch to the new LTD REDDI..

I never understood why people said the Red REDDI sounds like a B15. but i think that i get that now..
So i can totally understand how the Dark REDDI sounds like an SVT... That is probably the best description...
Its THICK.... and in your face and GUT...

Peter also had his Dual REDDI prototype at the show... and a new box temporarily named.. "The G SPOT" for Guitars, Keyboards and BASS..
I think he was toying with a new name "the KGB" Keys, Guitar, Bass!
I really like that name.....! KGB.
It is a Solid State DI with some nice CineMAG custom wound transformers..
You can actually cascade Channel A into Channel B for certain effects.. Something that i will try. I have One of the prototypes with me to take for a drive on a session next week..
It currently has a bright BLUE box which is a prototype.. The artwork and metal work will all be revised according to what Peter told me.

I have some photos to post.. I just got home late last night, had to get my dog out and to the park, and will get some photos coming in a few hours.

I have to say, this show was great... Lots of support from the bass community. Builders of Pro audio like Peter at A-Design, Alleva, Nordstrand, Smith, MTD, Form Factor, Ampeg, Labella, Mono and Igig, and others as well as some of the top dog session guys and girls on planet earth, all together in one spot for a great cause and something we all shared interest in.. and thats to help Animal Veterinary Holistic Medicine!
