To Be honest I was just thinking of studio use...You have a point regarding the live usage...

I have used the REDDI live but for EQ and amplification I'm using GK.

Yeah, I've waffled back and forth for live sound .... single box vs. multiple boxes. Always swing back to the simple way: one box -> cab. Less crap to schlep around. AND, if you chose the right box, sounds great too!

I'm not sure if it's been shared just yet (sorry if I'm late to the party)but I've been using the REDDI live and in studio for about 2 yrs now. Just recently received the P-1 500 series preamp with the 500 HR rack. I wanted to get a different "flavor" of tones for tracking. The REDDI (we all know) sounds amazing. Luscious tube tone. The P-1 is sweet on bass as well. Clear, transparent, tone from the lows to the highs. BUT... Running your bass into the REDDI, to the P-1, into the DAW was just another level of tonal heaven. I highly recommend trying it. Whether it's with the P-1 or the Pacifica or any one of the 500 series preamps. A-Designs has their finger on the pulse.

For a Vocal Mic Pre.. I highly recommended the Pacifica
Maybe Peter would have a a different choice,,,, But ive seen a few guys use that on Vox and its the shazzizle.

I have never used the P1.. I have the EM 500 Gold.. Not sure how different they are from each other for bass..
I run my REDDI into the EM500 Gold , but lately i bypass teh Gold and go REDDI into teh BAC500 comp and hit one or two lights then out...Its pretty nice.

I have some pics of the bluebox KGB that i need to post.. maybe later today

I almost want to say this is a Solid State REDDI! The KGB formerly known as the G Spot
I need to get it to the studio this week to hear it on a good set of speakers.
I has tons of GAIN too.. Maybe peter can let us know how much for sure..
And it is DUAL MONO.. So for guitar or bass you can go into Channel A then out of Channel A into Front Channel B then out of B into whatever...
I dont have my XLR to 1/4" here in order to try that out right now..
Ill take more shots in better lighting tomorrow..
Just want to share this with you...

But even without cascading the two channels into one another, the KGB will grow hair on the notes if you Gain it up .. My passive Jazz bass with from harmonics at the gain setting of about 3:30 oclock... Unless my meters are wrong.. It creates a smooth harmonic warmth as you go past that... And totally pristine clean at lower settings.. Wide with a super fast attack... This is a new animal... I need to play with it more.

*Off-topic PSA*

I browse on my mobile devices 95% of the time, and I have stickies and announcements turned off, but I just saw a post today from Paul that TB is migrating to a new server and is going to get a new look tomorrow at 1AM. I read through the FAQ on the switch and it looks like it's going to be a huge improvement (initial glitches, bugs, not withstanding).

Thesearch feature is still not happening in this new format..YOu have to go to a second window to get what you need. ughhhh I hope they updated the littel frustrated OMOSHI faces and stuff.! And clicking on the link in the EMAIL that TB sends out send you to the old site which gives you a message that falls short of calling you a nitwit for accessing the old site.. HAhahah

Anyway.. PETER.. It was great to hang with you at the BASSACRE! I could use some of those great Tacos that we got after the airport!

My main gig is mostly on IEMs. I have been using the REDDI for years and everyone is VERY USED to it .. As am I.
My main REDDI did not show up to some tour rehearsals at teh time of START.. so the facility manager/ PA guy hooked up a generic DI till my stuff got there...
HOLY COW.. not only did i not have gain... But everyone looked at me with a face of " Who Cut The CHEESE" look... My drummer sho is a session Ace, said Where is the REDDI Dood? I said its coming, The crew truck was delayed about 100 miles away.. haha

The REDDI is just so much better than the normal industry standard DI that even a singer can tell the difference.. And THAT IS SAYING ALLOT about the REDDI!!!!
That could be an add for the REDDI.. "Even the singer will notice your great bass tone!!!":rolfmao:

Looking forward to seeing the Black Reddi in production too!

Ya, nice! And good on you for going with a tube amp, too, even though it's a Mesa and not an Ampeg ;)

Funny story about that...when I first got my REDDI, I told Peter how excited I was to gig it because it sounds so much like my B-15 or SVT being speaker DI'd, and Peter tells me, "Just bring the REDDI and some IEM's and save your back." Good advice, except we don't use IEM's and I have an Ampeg deal, so I told him I'd just bring the Micro VR as a monitor most likely. Well the strangest thing happened...I went out in front of the band to listen, and the REDDI sounded awesome in the PA. I get back onstage, and it was like stepping out of a color movie into a black and white movie. The Micro VR is a cool little rig, but the head costs less than half as much as the REDDI, so it would be a little unfair to expect it to sound as good. So I ended up bringing a tube amp to most of my gigs + the REDDI and still do unless issues like travel and difficult load-ins make it non-feasible. I say why should the audience get to hear awesome tone and you and your band don't?

Kirk, I think if I were to do IEM gigs on anything else but the REDDI, I would quit playing music.
