Yeah, I think it'll be very cool, too, but dang, the REDDI is already the best in the business. How do you improve on perfection?

I guess you are enjoying the xsonics then
... I don't think I have ever heard one of those Fender amps but I love the looks of it every time you post a pic - and one day I have got to invest in IEM so I can hear my REDDI through them, but I am still going old school monitoring at most of my gigs.

The Fender is very Tubey sounding for a hybrid amp.. with TONS of headroom.. But i dig teh Alembic Preamp when it feeds teh Fender poweramp.
IEMs have their shortcomings.. Im not 100% into them but it is whats required at times.. ughhhhhhh
And the REDDI makes IEMs much better!!!.
I had the Blue REDDIs brother the new prototype KGB feeding IEMs at a pre tour rehearsal but our normal monitor Mixer was out sick .. So my gain stage was hitting the compressor on the IEMS too hard so i went back to the REDDI last night... Im bringing the KGB today once again to hear it through IEMS and to show the studio owner...
I am testing the THRU jack with different amps on the KGB to see if there is any interference or issues.. So far last night there were none at all using teh fender amp.. I may try my GK and GB amps this week..

I have the same IEM as svtb15 and I am very close to getting a REDDI to try with my IEM's.
I sometimes double on upright and electric on my AI Clarus+ with the MAS45. It's a great clean sound for upright but a little sanitary for electric. I was looking at adding a VT Deluxe pedal to warm things up but this looks more interesting. Thoughts?

Yes the TB1200.. Its a monster and 2Ω OK... I never run 2Ω these days though... i was talking shortly with Peter last night and he reminded me of the Fender TB800 that was at the Alleva coppollo BASSACE show two weeks ago. A guy had it the booth next to A-Designs Booth.. And that amp was Incredible.. Power of a TB1200 but with a real nice SS front end. WHY do these companies discontinue great products all the time..?/ I know the answer ,,, But man... It was a sleeper product, but maybe one of their best amps with that pre section!!! The TB1200 is about the closest you are gonna get to an all tube 1200 watt amp.. I will never need that much power on any gig..

Never heard my upright sound better in a PA than when going through the REDDI. But I must tell you if you didn't know that the REDDI won't warm up your amp since its circuitry only goes to the PA or recorder. So if you want to warm up your amp, maybe the VT would be a better choice.
I know it's a DI but can't I run the 1/4" and XLR out simultaneously or is that a bypass?
You can run them simultaneously, but the 1/4" out is a hardwire bypass. The XLR is the REDDI sound. Apparently it's a lot more complicated to split the signal in a REDDI or similar big-iron output transformered DI device like the Jule Monique preamp than just splitting it because I've never done it successfully using off the shelf gear, and if you could, Peter and Jule would likely do it. Jule opted to add a second tube preamp to the Monique that doesn't go through the OT, whereas Peter went for a bypass and figures your amp will take care of you onstage. Both ideas have merit, but the Monique approach is more costly, and I already had amps that do it for me so I went for the REDDI.
But I'll give it up for the VT. It's a very low cost way to Ampeg up your too-pristine amp a little. Doesn't sound quite as good as the REDDI (I once did a REDDI vs VT blind shootout on here that proved it when 73% of responders correctly picked which was which), but you'll be hard pressed to find better for less than $200.

Trying the two boxes... Back at it today.. The REDDI and the proto A-Design KGB Key,Git, Bass DI and preamp..
The KGB does have a large amount of gain output.. It will drive a poweramp!!!!
I am in pre production rehearsals the past two weeks for some shows and all IEMs.. And using these to see if there are any bugs.. Ground hums, loops etc.. So far all is good.
Jokingly i said that the Blue KGB is a DOUBLE AGENT!!! HA
Because it can be used as two devices at once..
Since it is a DUAL MONO in design, I can plug into channel A , Jump Channel A input to Channel B input.. Then use channel A as a preamp running into my Poweramp for stage and use, then use channel B output for DI to FOH etc.....

But your channel two is not going out the the REDDI right? You just use KGB to drive power amp and to FOH, correct? What tone difference does the KGB have compared to REDDI as a bass di?

Yes.. i am still experimenting AND seeing if there are any bugs... So far, none found.. But Im trying..
Yesterday, i only ran ONE channel of the KGB as a DI out to FOH at a rehearsal studio... So i didn't try it as a Preamp to rig and separate DI.. and in place of the REDDI for the first time on years...
I am using Westone ES3 for my IEMs.. I am Very used to that set up.. So I can hear a difference..
If i were not so used to the REDDI config, i may be hard placed to tell .
The KGB at this time seems very very similar to the REDDI. but the REDDI is a but more TUBEY.. Duhhhhh
I can honestly say ( I think ) that the KGB is like a Solid State sort of REDDI... It does have transformers... Two of them... One per channel.
The KGB has ALLOT of GAIN... Much more than the REDDI... and can drive a poweramp with ease..
The KGB can also be overdriven if you want super high end preamp slamming a transformer.. The transformer saturates and gets a nice cushy compressed type tone..
Peter said that if you want,,, you can feed channel A/1 output into channel B/2 input to super drive the channel B then use Channel B VOL as output to amp or recording desk.
Its a unique sounding tool...
I was heading to the rehearsal joint today but called it off. I am suffering- literally, from carpel tunnel or my neck issues right now. and need to rest before some gigs this week that are out of town so i am not going to get to try some options that i had planned. And i don't want to experiment on these gigs.
The KGB does clean real well. at least as nice as teh REDDI.. But its that squishy compression thing that it does that i cant forget about... Its not tube Squish... I may be incorrect but i think it is Transformer squish.. when driving it hard, the Transformer saturates.. and it has such a smoothness.. Maybe thats partly what happens with Tube amps and why they sound so nice and smooth.. Trannys getting saturated? i dont know enough about it..
From what i understand , this is NOT the final product from A Design. The Metal work is all going to be changed .. This is just a preliminary guts check and in a square box..
And it has plenty of GAIN to hit a protools rig without having to put a preamp inline it is a DI with enough GAIN to drive anything
