REDDI Tube DI Mega-thread-III

Ya, nice! And good on you for going with a tube amp, too, even though it's a Mesa and not an Ampeg
I've used a VR since '09, time for a new flavor
Anybody think it's unnecessary/conflicting/overkill for a strategy/REDDI setup?
I currently use a Radial JDI which is nice sounding, and small. Fits on a Pedal Train Nano with my tuner, compressor and Rolls IEM box. I know there are a few people who use similar gear (Westone IEM's) and say the REDDI is amazing with IEM's. I don't travel and gig a lot. I play at church. Everyone is IEM. I have no doubt that my Roscoe's would sound even more amazing with a REDDI. My favorite retailer (who also sets me up with my Roscoe's) is a REDDI dealer and would be happy to set m cup with one as well.
I plan to order another Roscoe soon (need someone to buy my Roscoe 6 first) so maybe he can toss a REDDI in the box as well.

By using the REDDI ,There is a HUGE difference as you know.
I stopped looking for anything else after i got my reddi. Im guessing about 7 years ago .. Its not like i have not used other high end DI before this searching and looking.
There is nothing like it..
Im experimenting with Peters new KGB blue box..
It has some high caliber transformers inside.. It can go super Clean like a REDDI!! Or if you wind it up it will OD the output transformers to get a real nice squish.... This is a MUST for guitar session guys.. Keys and im messing with it for bass..
This is a prototype.. The housing is going to be updated... Im going to test the Thru jack today...

I just talked to Joe, the guitar manager at Marshall Music (a Statewide chain in Michigan) about carrying A-Designs (I get a discount there, so I'd like to get the goods cheaper). I had my REDDI at the ready to demonstrate. He started with, "Yeah, I heard they're really great, I don't need to hear one." Well, a couple guitar salesmen did want to hear it, so I hooked it into an Allen & Heath board into a set of QSC active stacks with QSubs. One of them played a Taylor acoustic through it, then the other tried an American Deluxe Jazz. This was enough to get Joe's attention (did I mention that he's a bass player?), so he came in and was impressed. I then grabbed a Squier Classic Vibe '60s P Bass and played a couple Duck Dunn lines through it. He was flabbergasted! Absolutely floored at how great the REDDI made the Squier sound. I don't know if he's going to carry them, but all three of them ordered them for personal use with their own bands.

Sound advice. I know there is claim of it paying homage to the B-15 in some respects, just hoping it's going to serve me well with my gear, though it's reputation speaks for itself. Can't wait to give it a run and see what the buzz is all about.
Ya, there is definitely a B-15 vibe with it, but to me it's like a very clean running B-15 with a near-flat EQ, so I don't think its appeal is limited to tube amp fans by any means.
If it injects the certain depth of breath into my sound that so many TB users claim it does, I'm positive I'll be very happy to have it in my arsenal.
I'm not concerned with any Limited Dark REDDI, I already have the one-up... the Limited Special edition! Switchable from 16db of gain to 60db and phantom power. Also it has a "mood lift" switch on the back that, when flipped, produces no audible change- but any woman in the vicinity will subconsciously get "in the mood"

From some quick searching I see that a "thicker" or "heavier" sounding REDDI is coming at some point. Do you guys see any disadvantages to the current REDDI that are being addressed in an updated design?
I am so excited to try this out. My one question would be, will the new one be capable of sounding like the old one or will it be a situation of wanting to have both for different recording situations?

I just wanted to jump in here and explain a few things to you about the Black REDDI. if I may.
The REDDI and the REDDI Ltd are 2 different sounding animals so they really can not be compared to each other sound/tone-wise. The REDDI Ltd has more gain and a different sound then the REDDI.
What I really wanted to express was the REDDI Ltd is so far away from release (maybe a year out). There is still a ton of work left to do on this unit.
The KGB might be out last Q 2014 but that is all SS and totally different from the REDDI. I was thinking the KGB would kill for Electric Guitar and so far from what I hear back from the Beta Testing we hit the mark. ;>) Pure luck I guess.
I don't think you would be unhappy with the REDDI and in true TB fashion you would want both ;>)
Also there will be a limited amount of the REDDI Ltd made and judging from the response they will go fast.
I don't see (IMHO) any advantages/disadvantages between the 2 units yet .......just a matter of which one you would like to use for which application.

I did not get to Mikes studio this week to use the KGB... We rescheduled for next week though.
Just using it in m home studio setup makes me think it can also work Great for rock bass parts.. And Guitar... When pushed hard you can get some smooth squish compression and mild break up... My good friend Lattanzi has one of the hottest studios in Nashville.The nutcase has a vintage Neve, API and SSL all multed in the same control room.. It quite the talk of the town..
This week he had Tompson Square, areosmith guys and john poppa doing tracks.. I think he would LOVE teh KGB.. I will head there next month so he can give it a listen...
I want him to try this out
