I sold my gear, because I quit my Band. I had an Ampeg CL with an 8x10. (Finest sound ever)
I am searching for a new solution, which should be not so heavy then the ampeg.
Do you think it is possible to play live only with the reddi and without an amp?

ASSUMING a good PA and Sound Guy? Yes.

Absolutely! Get a good IEM or even a wedge (don't expect great sound in your monitor), and if the FOH has a decent system, REDDI is all you need.

Yes, but you will want a way to hear yourself. Some people use monitors but I don't like them. I would have kept the CL/810e myself but for small gigs where all I need is a monitor for bass, I'll use something like a Micro VR or a BA110, soon to be a BA112 v2.

If you have a good PA and IEM's (what I have at church) it is a great way to go. I only have a Radial JDI and it sounds great.

Everyone here says if I had a REDDI I'd be knocked out.

All of the above answers, provided your other band members are mindful of their stage volume. Stage volume is step #1 to a good sounding band. My personal experience is that an unfortunate majority of bands think stage volume means turning up. Then the guitar player can't hear himself to his liking, so he turns up more. The drummer hears the wall of sound on stage so he smashes the ever loving *&% out of his drums. Then the keys player dimes his volume... you get the idea. At that point, you'd need the 8x10. If you still want to play on that stage, that is.

But if you're playing with mindful pros, you'll be golden with the Reddi and a monitor of some kind. It sounds that good.

Am I mistaken in remembering someone saying it's modelled after or similar to a flip-top in some way? Like the pre-amp section or something?

no I am european (Austria), i habe no chance to try it. I only can order it fro,m the us.


Do you use a preamp befor you plug in into the reddi?

Tom, it sounds like a B-15.

Rodrigues, he was asking if you had a monitor of some sort. You don't need a preamp with REDDI, but you may want an EQ of some kind, but even that is optional.

If it works without an amp I would buy an active Monitor, just for backup or for some smaller locations.

Or maybe i buy an inear system...?!

On live gigs i usually use westone IEMs... The REDDI is first in the chain.... Last week I used it with the sound companies provided floor wedges.. They were not a Claire bros or meyer but something that was of similar quality. I had no amp on stage .. just the floor monitor and the REDDI... Not sure what desk it was feeding but the sound was great.. tight full. etc etc..

Thanks for all answers. One question left. Have you ever tried the reddi with an electric upright bass?

I have only tried it on EUB a few times.....NS Design... and it was fantastic for my needs.. It can take a HOT signal and not overload..
I also believe the bass player with Allison Kraus uses it all the time on his acoustic..

I've only used it with acoustic amplified upright, not electric upright. It rules, pure and simple.
