I think Mike won a REDDI in last year s raffle or the year before I cant remember. I know that he bought a huge pile of tickets for the charity.. .

Just to follow up - it was the tube. Got a box from TubeDepot today, popped the new one in (same exact Sovtek as what was already in there) and fired up the REDDI. It's been on for a couple hours straight now and no sign of the noise I was hearing previously - just TONE.
What a great box.

Heya experts, I'm looking for some advice. I'm looking to up my game for a home studio. Currently my cheapo interface is awful noisy so I'm looking at improving that and also a better DI solution. I've been gearing up to get a REDDI having never gotten to try one. The best direct tone I've gotten in the studio so far was using a BBE DI-1000 but I'm expecting the REDDI to be in another class. But today I was checking out the tone that Remco Hendrix gets on YouTube, and he's getting a tone that's huge and right up my alley using an EBS MicroBass II into a Focusrite Saffire Pro 26 interface.
My question: Should I be thinking about REDDI vs the EBS MicroBass or are these products that might work well together (like Preamp pedal for signal shaping into REDDI for added warmth and balanced DI signal)? Has anyone here ever compared these two against each other?

I'll tell you, I never had them at the same time, but I used to have a Microbass II, and it's not without its good points but it sure is an odd duck. Channel A only has bass/treble controls, and channel B only has a parametric mid. Loved the distortion in it. Reminded me of a Rat. Unfortunately, instead of using it for a single instrument where it worked better for that purpose, I used it as an AB box for my electric and upright, and it was tough to deal with. It also didn't have the greatest sounding DI I ever heard. It worked, but it was rather nasty sounding compared to other ones, and the REDDI blows it off the map as a DI. It could work as a front end for the REDDI, yes, but there are lots of other pieces of gear I'd rather use for that, including my DAW's EQ plugins.
EDIT: I see the price has come way down on it...used to be $400, now it's like $315. That must mean it's not selling like it once did. Not surprised, quite honestly.

Thanks so much for the perspective! I've had similar issues with other preamp pedals so I'm not surprised. I was most disappointed when the DI from an Aguilar Tone Hammer pedal was too noisy to record with.
I'm intrigued that you used the MicroBass as an A/B switch because I've looked into similar solutions for electric/upright. The most promising for balancing electric and piezo seem to be Radial products and the RMI Basswitch IQ DI.
Anyway, I think I'll continue with the plan to get a REDDI.

Shameless self promo of my REDDI DI..
I do sessions for a guitar instruction website from time to time.They blocked out 2 days at a local studio to do this instructional video by guitar virtuoso and Grammy Winner Redd Volkaert. Redd played with Asleep at the Wheel and Brad Paisley , Vince Gill, Merle Haggard, and 100 other Nashville stars... Then he tops it off with a Grammy..
Man can he pick on a Tele.. We did Country Blues Shuffles , Texas swing, Train Beats.. . So much fun mixing it up.
Anyway, we did some songs for his new stuff and about 8 tracks for an upcoming Video instructional documentary.. this was one of the most fun session that i have done with this crew,
Bass came out sounding Great! I just used my Alleva Coppolo kbp4 with some foam under the strings.. whaalla.

Redd Loved the REDDI and posed with it.. He really dug the name!!!
They used my REDDIs LED to Back light the console when he was doing the interview section..
I actually wound up being teh interviewer and bass player. What a blast!

If I had it to do over again, I'd have gotten the Bassbone. But now I use an AB pedal and a little MXR EQ for the upright.
That's my (and the techs I am working with) favourite signal chain for years: RMI Basswitch into the REDDI

Which AB? I got the Morley ABY Guitar Mixer and Switcher because it has 2 input level knobs, but it added FAR too much noise to the signal chain.

I've thus far used the box for transport and I don't want to go for a Pelican case but rather a soft case that I can also pack my cables, tuner, a couple of music books or note books. Any suggestion on a good over the shoulder type bag. I wish Mono made the guitar tick to fit but looks a little shy on the length. I also have considered setting it up on a small pedal board, any thoughts?

I have a nice anvil type case.. BUT Goodwill had some soft cases that i used before i got the hard case. . The Goodwill case was only $4.
But i use my hard case 4- 5 days a week

Remco uses more than just the MicrobassII - he also uses an EBS Microcomp and a Boss OC-2 octaver.
That said, his technique is a huge part of his tone, and unlike just about anyone else I've heard.

Ya, just finally checked him out and he's really good. I think he gets a really good sound, too, but how could you not get a good sound when you play like that?
