I listened to most of the tracks Jimmy put up, hard to tell with my crummy Mac speakers but I'm liking the REDDI. Just wondering Jimmy, I know you've been using the VTBD for awhile, do you see that changing now with the REDDI, or perhaps using both? I've just picked up a VTBD, so far I'm liking it, but always like to hear what you have to say.

Ian, that is one of the classist pedalboards I have seen, all top-notch stuff. Off-topic, but I'm wondering if you can compare the Pork Loin to the OD channel of the 100T? I've got the PL, and really like it, and I'm hoping to pick up the 100T this summer.

As for me, the REDDI looks amazing, but I can't justify the scratch for it playing dive-bars and recording home demos. IF the band starts going places......, otherwise I will continue to dream!

Hey Alex, I see a different role for the VT Deluxe, certainly. I'm using it as a splitter with EQ for my upright as well as a dirt box for my electric, and I think I'm going to have to find a new splitter that leaves the upright signal untouched other than a little EQ and leveling of volume. But I'll be pretty particular about it and shop well and use the VTD as a splitter in the meantime. For dirt, though, I still like the VT very much, though I'd be lying if I said I didn't want an overdrive that's got a tube and an output transformer ;)

:D I'll be the first to admit that high end gear doesn't make a player good, but when you have nice gear that gives you what you're looking for, it does give you a good feeling and a psychological edge that I really think shows to the folks. I put off getting a REDDI for a long time and finally took the plunge, and now I'm only sorry I talked myself out of it for so long.

Thanks for the explanation Jimmy. I guess the REDDI and the VTBD overlap in functionality somewhat, just interesting how they might be used together. Off topic but so far really liking the VTBD, the OD I've been getting out of it is great.

As solid state goes, the VT is quite good. Not going to dump on it. Loved it for years now and it's the last pedal standing on my board. And yeah, they're both designed to sound like an Ampeg tube amp, but emulation just can't hang with the real thing. It's why Ampeg didn't quit making SVT's when the PF500 came out ;)

So I went out to WalMart and found nothing. Saw a camera bag I thought would work, but it was two sections split in half. Came home and looked up general purpose bags and telescope bags and stuff and found nothing. So for my gig tomorrow I've got it in a pillow case inside a sports bag, but I definitely need to improve on that situation. Probably going to order a Tuki padded bag for it at the very least. The custom REDDI road cases are way cool but I don't want to have to tote a road case for it. It's not going to be in a position where it would get thrashed by union guys.

Never heard this live - just online - but this is a sweet DI. Not sure I can justify $700 to use every other Sunday though. I wish the 1/4" thru had the tube sweetness added to it.

I suppose I could get a Micro VR for my stage amp/monitor...

I plan on doing just that on a lot of my gigs. Or a PF350...sounds the same but has 150 more watts and fits in a laptop bag. You won't get that thick harmonic response or the concussion of an SVT, but it does cop the sounds to a larger degree than SS amps of yore, IMHO. And I know you're never going to buy a tube SVT ;) so ya, the REDDI for the house and the Micro VR for a stage monitor would probably be up your alley. I balked at the price and the size of the REDDI for a while, but you know, I've spent way more than that on basses and amps, and the thought of having to use a garden variety DI that sounds nothing like my gear never sat right with me. Got this big honking rig behind me breathing tube fire and they want me to plug into a box that takes all that away? Really? And it weighs the same as a Micro VR, so why not? You only live once, unless you believe in reincarnation...but what if you come back as a dog? Then you're never going to get to play bass!
