REDDI Tube DI Mega Thread . Potential megathread that is.

Linden is sold. Oh well. That and the sfx Micro EQ are looking pretty good to me. Like the smaller size of the Micro EQ, but the Linden's pretty well established and easier to get. And I guess the Lehle P Split is the splitter everyone loves these days. I have a Morley and it always did fine by me, but you guys always say it's more noticeable than the P Split, so I'll give that a shot as well. Oh jeez, here goes my pedalboard again!

EDIT: P Split apparently not what I want. Looking at this Startouch pedal. Might try it.

Haha.. I take full responsibility.. I only go off on my soapbox when i fully believe to my core that something is so cool that i have to share it .. And the REDDI is that unique.. IMO:):)

You can try and Gut the front end out of a Genz Benz Streamliner , and pass it into the REDDI for the Modded Baxandall EQ :eek::hiding:

I wish i could help you with the splitter. I just dont have any experience with that.. Reggie Hamilton may though.. He is a REDDI user as well as some other A-Design gear... He is a FB friend , and you can find him on my FB.. i think he hangs on TB when he is able..He may also use a splitter at times.. Peter would know for sure They are pretty tight friends..

diglo, I can't see how anyone couldn't love what they hear out of the REDDI, so i think you'll be fine. But if not, just remember that it was Kirk who whipped us all into a frenzy over it originally.

Kirk, may not have to discuss it with you after all. I just need a splitter and an EQ so I can double on upright and straighten out its EQ. Been using the VTD but I don't want speaker sim forced on me anymore and I don't want anything to act negatively on the REDDI. But I think I'm going to have to get my head out of the clouds for a moment and settle for a step up from a Boss pedal and not be so anal about it. I think I'll just try to find some little Baxandall circuit and stick that on there instead of going with a $2000 EQ. I'm all for righteous tube tone but at some point you have to draw the line unless you're...well...you ;)

Ya, I'm sure Reggie's system is top notch. Way over my head, though. Holy cow, can't afford to go that route for my gigs! Maybe I'll look down tomorrow and find a winning lotto ticket ;)

Gillento, I did see that Basswitch IQ and thx for the tip, but dang dude...$600? I asked about the Morley ABY's alleged tone sucking and found out it's only when in Y mode, so since I have one already, I'm going to use it with probably a Barber Linden.

A little bummed...clouding up and looking like rain today...outdoor gig, too. Not a big fan of using high end gear in the rain ;)

Had to post that one in the thread so it came up for everyone. Yeah, that's a thing of beauty there. Nice simple unobtrusive circuit with a tube and bigass transformers.

So I figured my dilemma out and the answer was under my nose the whole time...the VT Deluxe. I can use that as a splitter still and just bypass it unless I need dirt on the electric. Its bypass is buffered, but I don't hear anything hinky going on with it in my tube amps. Throw a Linden in front of the upright and I think I'll be good.

About to do another gig review...bite to eat first and a little time to reflect on what just happened is needed.

Wrote a really big gig review and almost finished it when my comp sopntaneously rebooted so I got a few z's and woke up. That's OK, I probably went on too long anyway. Here's the short version:

Gig today was a block party for about 200 with my favorite soundman. He's got a great PA for gigs like this one and knows how to use it. Went direct on Precision with my REDDI. Yep, it's the one, no doubt about it. I've lost the desire to mic a cab on gigs. Had a good long soundcheck where I got to hear it extensively in the PA, and there's nothing about it that I don't absolutely love. If I ever had any doubts, they're gone now. I'm going back to tubes full-time all the way around. Thought I could get away with a micro as a monitor but now with the REDDI I can't stand for the audience to have better sound than me. My fragile ego won't allow that ;)

Great review of the Reddi. I am seriously considering getting one. You stated that it sounded great through the PA. What change, if any, did it make to your B15 since you are now feeding it the Reddi signal?

Gotta tell you, I had the holy grail of bass amps onstage with me, and when I got into the crowd, I was digging what I heard out of the REDDI in a way that I dig that B-15. The only time I ever heard DI sound that good was when I was speaker DIing my B-15 and SVT briefly until soundmen complained that my EQ's that worked for my amp weren't working as well in the house. I'll never stop using amps, and I reserve the right to mic a cab sometimes ;) but I think I finally have a DI solution that everyone will be happy with, even me.

Did nothing to the B-15. The REDDI circuitry only goes through the XLR out and not the 1/4" out.

Dude, it was largely due to you that I finally got one, so thanks very much! The Basstasters clips are what initially made me interested, but your real world experiences with it are what counts IMHO. Glad you turned us all onto it instead of bogarting all your amazing tone secrets for yourself ;)
