I don't think so. I literally just unpacked my guitars yesterday after 2.5 years of storage - we finally got into a house at the end of March. My interests right now are on my high gain guitar head and the tube bass head designs, but there is still a lot to get in order before I have much time to focus on anything music.

OK, someone enlighten me, since I cant seem to get a real clear picture from scouring TB/FB/YT.

Saturn V vs VHF700 vs Studio 1200: Which one is the cleanest (smoothest midrange) most hi-fi (most extended top and bottom) and quick?

People definitely have different personal takes on what is "clean," or "smooth," or "hi-fi," but based upon my personal conception of those terms, I feel that the Studio 1200 is cleanest, smoothest, most hi-fi of those three. On the "quick" front, I might give the Saturn V the nod, as it has a very fast transient response, but none of them sound sluggish or hesitant. Man, I really do need to find my written notes from my last comparison of those three...

Thanks Tom. That’s kinda what I was expecting to hear. I might be interested in trading the Saturn for studio 1200, if anyone out there is interested in that. If not I’ll gladly hang onto this beauty. The only other thing that could possibly sway me would be a bass art classic head

I agree with that assessment. The Studio 1200 is the smoothest and most hi-fi, the Saturn V is a bit more aggressive in the mids, and the VHF 700 is the most aggressive with the least fat low end. They are all great, but the Saturn V was my favorite.

Nailed it. I sold my VHF because it was just a smidge too aggressive.

Aggressive = smooth yet articulate out front (not to mention cutting thru the stage mix)
Hence the name ... Saturn V baby!

I get this, but the aggression works for me. I also like the extra focus on mids rather than deep lows (which is enhanced even further via the Punch control); that works better for me at my bar gigs with substandard acoustics, where too much low end from my 5 strings can make things blurry.

Are you running the Sonic Farm into a Saturn V? Tell us about that (and how it all works with the Accu-Groove).

Also, that old Ibanez P doesn't look out of place next to your Alleva Coppolo -- the body's pretty crazy-looking, actually (in a good way).

Just using the buffered 1/4 output to the reiner so it’s not getting the full circuit of the 2di4 into the amp. But it sounds great. Pretty aggressive and mid forward, in a good way, for an otherwise, fairly smooth sounding cabinet. Very very usable in the mix.. it’s a theater gig so I can’t really get the volume up and it’s just a supplement in ears but it’s nice to hear it in the wild.

Yeah, that Ibanez P is a keeper. It’s an 81, pretty heavy but wow sounds fantastic. Very cool figuring on that ash body.

I know it doesn't have near the same cachet as the Alleva (or, probably, the same attention to detail) but, for my taste, the Ibby's the looker of the two.

I expect that reviews of the show will remark on the bass tone (and will be disappointed if they don't).

I’ll tell you what. That coppolo is fantastic, but it’s not 14x as good as the ibanez….
