Reiner Amplification Megathread

I've used the Gig Skinz small mixer bag in the past for micros (referenced a few posts back), and was impressed with the build quality relative to the price. It wasn't super high end, but it was affordable, offered reasonable protection, and ample storage for my needs.

Agree what I like in this one is the strap the secures the amp in place - didn't see that on the others.

The strap is definitely a nice touch. The microfiber/fleece lining was a good move on their part as well to keep things from getting marred by a rougher material. Good quality zippers also made me smile. Cool overall products despite a crappy name (Skinz with a Z? Really?), and bad styling (think bro tattoos, MMA/Tapout style artwork, etc.). The bag you pictured didn't seem to have that bad aesthetic which makes me very happy.

Yeah, they seem to have 86'd the whole dragon print - these are pretty snazzy with the red stitching/accents but not gaudy.

Any updates or pics of how things are progressing?

Yup, I worked until about 4 am today and then the better part of the afternoon. Fired her up and she's alive! Seems a lot louder than I remember, super quiet with the final layout.

EDIT: Chris you had asked about this earlier - I just tried a 12ax7 in the first position and it sounds really, really good IMO. Still a lot of clean headroom but there is a bit more drive if you want it, and it smooths out the initial attack with a bit less top end and slightly thicker mid emphasis. Need to play with it for a bit.

Just wow! Looks like alot of awsome crammed in there. Are those big pink things your custom inductors?

Chris, see my previous edit on the 12ax7.

Those things are actually red (pink is evil), and they are sonic mojo filters filled with secret voodoo sauce. Or maybe just various electrical components wrapped in heat shrink...
;)

Badass! Can't wait to see it with the logo.

For what it's worth (answer: absolutely nothing), I'm partial to Fender lamps. I happen to have spare jewels in various colors that I was using for the Jack Read pre I used to own. As I recall, you had reasons for avoiding them (and no, it's not important to me).

Lemme know when you're open - you need to come up for a test drive ASAP! The lamps I use are solid state so you don't have to worry about bulbs burning out or getting loose. I also like the fact that both indicators match even though they are different types of lamps. And of course I like the way they look. Not a lot of real estate anywhere I'm this build so their compactness is also a benefit. And they are made in the USA!
