What's the power-handling on those @RVBASS ?

I'm not particularly unhappy with my small-gig Bag End S10-D, but I'd reckon that Barefaced outperforms it.

I would think that the BE, being a very old design (relatively, speaking), doesn't have lots of RealWorld™ power handling. Alex, most likely, has some more modern-design drivers in his cabs that can handle a lot more RealWorld™ power. The two BE cabs I had in the mid/late '90s (S15-D - black carpet) probably were RealWorld™ rated for around 150 watts RMS (RealWorld™).

The Barefaced website says 500W RMS, but I’ve read comments buy users that 300W is a good power level to shoot for. Here are the specs from the website:

Yeah, I think you're right on Jeff... rated at 300w, but actually more like a buck-fifty. Which is about all my Acoustic Image Clarus is ever feeding it anyway.

I was commenting elsewhere the other day, hers is the only Facebook page I ever look at, but for the last year or so, it seems like most of her posts are eulogizing a friend who has passed. At 89, she has just about outlived most of the Hollyweird she knew. And it's kinda' sad, but she has this way of making it seem funny too. Maybe not 'funny', but just okay to let go and laugh while remembering the good times.

Brilliant artist. Accidentally an actress. That Jeannie character branded me for life. (or can you tell...?)

Well, that’s hard to say since the magnetic and piezo pickup and coil tap allow for many tonal variations.

This bass has the simplified passive electronics: volume, blend, passive low pass filter, coil tap for switching to single coil magnetic pickup. Also, I use pyramid flatwound strings.

It does not sound like a fender or similar makes (at least to me). It does not sound like an Alembic to me either. To me it sounds like a mix between an active and passive bass, which makes sense since it has an active magnetic pickup and passive electronics. It can go from very clean to a warm but not muddy tone.

The piezo pickup has a strong influence over the tone when used, and I typically mix in just a little bit of the piezo for clarity, sort of like using a Q-switch with a low pass filter. When using more of the piezo in the mix the bass has a very acoustic sound, but not like an upright acoustic bass, more like an acoustic bass guitar. It’s nice using that when playing with acoustic groups (i.e, guitars, mandolins, banjos). But, if I pair it up with an Alembic SF-2 filter, then I can get that upright acoustic bass sound.

The coil tap provides a nice cleaner single coil tone compared to the Turner “hot humbucker” tone, which is deeper and fuller. So it’s nice to have that variety.

So the bass has many tones, and I’m sure Model 1 Basses that also have the added active electronics have even more tonal variation.

It’s a cool bass to have in the fold. I’ll try to record the tonal variations and post here at some point.

I saw it when it listed last night or this morning and got all excited....until I saw the price. That's really high for that version, especially with just piezo and no controls. Very nice looking Electroline though! I'm still on the search for a fretless 4 PMM.

Aside from the Electroline fretted 4 PMM in my avatar pic, I have an Electroline fretless prototype 4 string with 3 magnetic pickups but no piezo. Sounds great but I'd like it to also have a piezo. I've thought about contacting Rick Turner's shop to see about buying a D-TAR Eclipse preamp and piezo bridge to install in mine. Has anyone purchased anything like this from his shop before?

I may also have one built like the red burst one on his website, but with added mag pickups. I love the fretboard on that one.

Hey guys, I’ve been out of this loop for a bit although I do always check when I get notifications from this thread. I’m entertaining the idea of selling mine again lately. Been doing more of a funk fusion thing lately after doing an album over the last 6 months and this hasn’t gotten the light of day for a while. If I sell I’d want it to go to someone on this thread that appreciates these as it was a gift from my wife like 15 years ago...
It’s a really nice walnut front and back, fretted. Lousy pic but had it in my phone. I can certainly take better ones.
