Does anyone have any experience replacing the stock pickups on the geddy lee jazz? I'm thinking about replacing mine.. What pickups do you suggest? Ps. I'm looking for a nice aggressive tone.

Replaced mine with Dimarzio Model Js. Sounds killer.

Have you tried them wired with a series/parallel, push/pull knob? I loved mine like that.

Does anyone like the Seymour Duncan stuff?

I put two Duncan Vintage pickups in my Geddy. The stock pickups were extremely noisy even after a full shielding. Just happened to find a good deal on the Duncans at a local shop. IMO, they sound great. I wouldn't call them "aggressive" by any means, but I play everything from country to hard rock, and they sound very nice across the board. They've been very versatile for my needs.

I'm thinking either some dimarzio's or sd quarter pounders. What should I do?

Buy both, try them, sell the ones you don't like.

I wish I could do that. I only have enough money for 1 pair

I hear ya. I've never tried the SD Quarter Pounders, but from what I've read they seem like they'd sound a lot different from the Dimarzio Model Js. Tough call.

slap some 500k pots in the geddy and the stock pickups will be plenty aggressive, especially with a touch of grit in the tone.

I'm still having a hard time deciding. Every time I think I find something I like, somebody says that they aren't any good. The antiquity 2 pickups sound like the might be nice

So I'm going to buy some area j's. Will I be able to put these pickups in myself or will I need a soldering iron? If so I'll have to have someone else do it

I have SD Antiquity II's in my 73 jazz. Definitely worth checking out.

I use the Quarter Pound for Jazz BassĀ® SJB-3 pickups in my Geddy and 2 other Jazz basses. And Quarter Pound for P bass. I like more output from my passive pup into my amps.

    YMMV

    The man has a point.

And... pots cost less than $5 a piece. Might be worth trying before you drop $100+ on a pair of p'ups.

You will need a soldering iron.

Pots might help the tone, but perhaps not the hum or buzz, especially at dissimilar volumes between to two pups. Area J are pretty close to stock without the hum and perhaps a little less treble.

area Js are great, but they're about as close as you can get to the same sound you have now, just without the noise when you turn one down.
