It's a very good point! I personally don't care what gear he plays, he's always going to sound like Flea.

I will say that some people stay rich for a reason. Just look at Mr. Burns...

Happens every day. Do yourself a favor. Go plug yourself into an EBS TD650 with a Proline 810. Jam on that for a few hours. Then plug yourself into a Hartke LH1000 and Hydrive 810.

Then ask yourself if Victor Wooten switched to Hartke from EBS because he truly believed Hartke to be a superior amp

..... The line I got was that Hartke writes a check for $18,500 every year to Wooten. Unsubstantiated rumour... but these types of arrangements happen every day. I endorse the gear I think is best for me (Ampeg for metal, Genz Benz for everything else)... and I'm a great big nobody so I still have to PAY for the stuff!!

Keep in mind that Flea is known to be a huge fan of John Paul Jones. That's why he insisted on playing his 60s jazz (which happened to have flats on) despite his sound guy complaining that he couldn't get enough highs from it.

JPJ is well known for using Acoustic...

I'm not so sure money changed hands here. I'm also not so sure Flea is able to get his sound (as we're used to hearing it) out of that rig, but the audience hears the DI anyway so that doesn't matter.

Larry has said on here that he doesn't pay for endorsements. However, I'm sure they do get compensated for clinics, so that may enter into it. I don't know...I'm not privy to those dealings and prefer not to deal in rumor, unless of course it's from one of my sources ;)

OTOH, I'm sure Vic isn't going to play a rig he doesn't like just to make a few extra beans. So he must find something good about them. I'm all about Ampeg, but I do really like the Hydrives, that's for sure.

As for Flea, though, Flea makes a LOT more than Vic, so there's much less incentive for him to get involved with endorsements for cash, especially if all you can make from it is $18,500. Sheesh! He probably makes that daily just from royalties off Blood Sugar Sex Magic ;)

I seriously doubt George can affor Fle. George does not have a lot of cash rolling around.

George is doing something he believes in and loves.

Flea probably likes the amps and they do look good behind you.

My geuss is these amps got paid for.

I hope Vetchking sells a million of them.

Endorsements are not always about cash. One of the main bonuses to having an endorsement is having support while on tour. I'm not sure that's the case with Flea/Acoustic but sometimes you need to be able to fly into a strange city and have access to the gear or you use or a tech that can repair it.

Flea can play whatever he likes and it makes no difference to me. I played a Modulus Flea bass for years. Not at all because it was a Flea bass but because I loved the instrument itself.
Flea will always sound like Flea. You will sound like you and I will sound like me.

That's interesting.
Every 15" and 18" I saw in the shop (I'm guessing 50 of each, minimum OEM order) had a big ceramic plate on the back.

That was over a year ago, but I doubt he's used them all. Or that he and his investors could afford to just eat them.

It's right off their brand spankin' new website. I would guess its a tweaked 3015.

Great point. I am amazed when people buy gear just because their favorite artist uses it. Every major artist uses a DI and runs through the board, otherwise they couldn't be heard. Most pro gear is modified and even live recordings are over dubbed in the studio. You never hear exactly what the artist heard or is playing for that matter.

Every major artist does run through the board, but not all of them DI.
