Yes he did...you raise a good point. But there's a difference between playing a cable that does nothing vs a rig that does something, plus I remember how many companies sent Vic rigs to audition on that one tour he did a couple years ago, so i tend to believe that he actually likes his new stuff. Call me crazy...

I don't hate Flea at all. He's great. I just played a Flea bass cuz it I liked it for me, not because it was endorsed by a renowned player.
I think people need to take endorsements with a grain of salt, that's all.

I don't think he's changed his mind. I don't see him ever telling bass players that they need to use Hartke or they can't play. He just decided that the Hartke rig was the one for him so he uses it now.

It’s the pic. Those cabs are tilt back, like and Ampeg 810, but the full depth is about 18”.

While on the subject of the cab, they do (unlike the original) have a HF horn. This is purely speculation on my part, but I would think a folded 18, and HF horn would make a great cab for a slap style player. Lots of lows and highs and not much in between. Also, since he has multiple stacks, I wonder if he is switching between them for finger style and slap settings. Just a thought.

I believe the horn is actually a mid horn, in which case you could get a pretty good mid response out of it.

I would say that Flea has been an acoustic fan for quite some time as he played the national anthem at a Lakers game using a vintage 360/361 back in '09.

Might be, but it's very easy to pigeonhole a rig based on looks, and looks can be deceiving.

I don't understand the hate for the Acoustic Control 360/361? I played one for a long time, maybe your cab had air leaks (mine was resealed twice), or improper power amp repair (had that happen also). Acoustic Control took care of me as a walk in (kid). That amp was a favorite for me. IIRC the roll off of the folded horn was 75-80Hz. Just about the same as the original Ampeg 810 although the 810's roll off was much more gradual.

1) It was a joke, dammit! My main point was just that Flea is most likely not getting paid for using Acoustic. He'll use whatever he feels inspires him at any given moment without much regard to cost, practicality or even contractual obligations

2) I don't own any GK gear. I did have an old beat up 400 RB 15 years ago, though.

IIRC, he was quoted as saying that snake oil IEC cable actually contributed to his sound in a positive way - which in *my* mind, calls into question any of his future credability... although I also get where you're coming from, too...

Speaking of which my dogs have fleas and I can not get rid of them.

I've used Frontline and Armor as well as Bengal flea killer in the house.

Any suggestions?

There is probably money involved because the GK 2001RB is a beast of an amp that doesn't often let it's users move on to other equipment. Mine locked me in a closet for three days once simply because I mentioned an SVT.

I wish there was a like button so I could like this quote! I always wanted a GK 2000RB, mostly because of Flea himself.... I don't see him playing through acoustic either. Not unless it is an 810 model. The old folded horn cabs worked for jaco, but flea is a total stretch, tone wise...

Bear in mind, though, that these aren't the old folded horn cabs, but new folded horn cabs with an extra mid horn. That would make a difference.
