I'm putting down music that isn't as amazing as people make it out to be. I think that most accepted bands out there and most stuff on the radio is mediocre material. I think we should search further to find the real but often obscure geniouses that are out there. Why not find the stuff that pushes the boundaries? Why settle for the mediocre?

Ok, so this is the part that is causing problems. "I'm putting down music that isn't as amazing as people make it out to be." That should read "I am putting down music I don't particularly care for". Because your point of view of whether it is amazing is irrelevant, its just a matter of taste.

You need to learn that. That is why you have every coming down on you. I personally find many of your points valid, but blanket statements like this only hurt your cause.

Sure Mozart was important but his music is pretty much Classical light, to say that he is the greatest classical composer of all time is rediculous

I haven't heard alot of Segovia, I downloaded a bunch of songs when I was discussion a guitar topic once and it just didn't move me.

Quite simply 2 of the most ridiculous statements I have ever read.

My self censoring was abit off at that time but I still think that if someone says that Vile is better than Suffocation then it goes beyond taste, its like saying that I'm a better jazz composer than Miles Davis was.

Coypu, regarding Segovia check out Recuerdos de la Alhambra. If you like technical music you'll appreciate the simultaneous tremolo voice and arpeggios - if the harmony doesn't move you, I suspect you may actually be dead.

BTW, Sean Malone does nothing for me whatsoever. Technical is the perfect adjective for his music - in fact, it's the only adjective you need.

Well, Anal **** have more variation in their songs than there was in Recuerdod de la Alhambra. Their are pretty much on the same page as harmony goes aswell. I don't really see whats so great about that song musically, perhaps hard to play but that doesn't mean much. I'd take alot of music over that stuff anyday of the year. For a good example check out: Prokofiev - Piano Sonata No. 7 in Bb. Now that is truly good stuff!

I always considered Sean's main project Gordian Knot to be very down to earth. I never really saw it as particulry technical, some related bands like Spastic Ink and Cynic are on a completely different level as far as technicality goes. Gordian Knot is relaxing music which is very cleverly written and very well composed. If you don't dig the music then its your loss, I find it to be very good but I guess you just have to enjoy your lighter music and leave the advanced for the rest of us.
