I'm getting a new bass. I have narrowed it down to three and I would love some feedback from you all. Most importantly, I want to make sure that I am getting a good, quality bass.

Fender Jazz MIM: $750 no case

Fender Jazz MIA: $950 with case

Fender Geddy Lee Jazz: $650 no case

I usually play fretless or upright. I just want to have the option of the fretted sound and slapping.

After playing all three I am most drawn to the Geddy. The tone is nice and crisp; same with the MIM but for some reason it seems a little less comfortable.

The MIA is very warm and inviting but doesn't have that really crisp sound, especially when I slap. But the feel of it is out of this world.

That MIM is way too expensive...drop a few hundred off and it's more realistic. Believe it or not, I paid below that price for my MIA Jazz (new) and below that price for my 73 Precision...

Sounds like you like the GL...if you dig it, you should go for it.

He got it!

Pics!!!

I listened to 'Moving Pictures' all the way to the store and back.

In a blatant show of disregard for the 'no pics, no bass' rule (I don't have a digital camera so the pics will be delayed) I have to say that I love this bass!!! It is so easy to slap on and just play in general. And the tone, oh dear, the tone...so nice. It is very crisp and clean whether I play slap, harmonics, pluck...you name it. I'm just floored

I played some slap improv, Portrait of Tracy, Road Games (snippets), Jamerson lines, Opus Pocus, and, of course, YYZ!

I promise I'll get the pics ASAP.

I also got the price knocked down to $600 and bought a Gator case for $70.

Thanks for all of the advice. Oh, and by the way, I believe the MIM is some kind of reissue or anniversary issue if that makes a difference in price. No matter, though, cause I am very pleased.
