Well, you gotta realize that the current model number is just 3060, not M3060 like on the old packaging. Then you'd find it at both of those stores!

One of the tricks to a successful Google search is to be not too specific. I found the link to the Fret Nation webpage simply by typing in "fret nation ghs tapewound".

Thanks for the post! I was just reconsidering a tapewound set. I like that Rotos are Alloy52, but don't like that large of a string if it increases stiffness and don't want to have to do any filing on the nut. The LaBellas seemed a little brighter than the others, or a little less bottom. The other three sounded awfully close via recording. I'm sure in person there is more nuance to notice.
Well, I can't find it anywhere now, but I'm almost certain I read that as that was what really caught my attention. Rotosound doesn't mention it. Hummmm.... Starting the new year off with a mistake. I'm glad I got that out of the way!
@dagrev may have Tru Bass 88 confused with Nexus. Nexus Black Polymer Coated strings are indeed Alloy 52 under the coating, but as far as I know, Tru Bass 88 Nylons are stainless steel underneath.
Yes, I must have been, but didn't think I was looking at those. I've considered them and knew they were, but possibly a seller mis-copied or I made a mistake. I've done that once or twice before.
I just sent off an email to Rotosound, asking for clarification on this. We'll see what they have to say...

I just heard back from Rotosound. Here's what they wrote:
"We use stainless steel for the undercover of our Tru Bass strings. This is the same undercover that is used on our Swing Bass strings."
Thanks for the clarification and correction. I was pretty interested if they were Allow52. I'm not sure I'd want taped SS rounds of any brand. I believe I would just as soon use GHS Pressurewounds. Given that the tapes seem to or seek to largely accomplish the same thing as the PWs.
I bought a bass with DR Black Beauties (coated not taped). They were OK, but I sent them to a friend to try.
Yes, they've been back in production since the spring of 2019.

Totally not the reason.
Technically they were always in demand so they should’ve never been discontinued.
At the time, they were one of the very few sets that GHS had made for them. When the cost of black nylon tape skyrocketed, the company that made them for us said they couldn’t do it anymore. So they were discontinued.
Fast-forward a year or two when GHS acquired Innovation Double Bass strings, and had to buy black nylon tape for the Rockabilly and Ultra Black sets. Since we had the capability, I was able to get GHS to start offering the tapewound bass sets again, and this time in-house.
