My primary bass right now is an Affinity P that I got for $40 and was missing the electronics. I put in an Alembic Active PA/E1 P-bass pickup and electronics. Had to route away a bit to fit the battery. Everything else is bone stock Squier "Made in China"
It's light, resonant and extremely comfortable. The neck has a great profile, the fretwork is great. I would have no problem playing this bass out, the alembic pickups sound incredible.
Though it's not very punk (black with white single ply guard) it's eventually going to get better tuners and bridge and probably a Nordstrand P pickup so I can put the alembics back where they belong.
If you want punk, true punk...

That's a 65 jazz body, a 68 tele bass neck, an SD quarter pounder jazz pickup wired straight to the jack, and if you look close you can see a ground wire going overland from the bridge to the control cavity and the jack ground.
I would imagine it sounds incredible, but I'm sure someone will disagree with me.
