Rewiring Elite Jazz Bass

I’ve had my Elite for a year now, and I do not like the active electronics, at all.. The output Jack is a 9 pin stereo square type that for whatever reason I’ve had to replace twice. It gets sloppy and cuts out. I’m just going to make it passive and have exactly what I want. My question is, do I go the traditional Jazz Bass route with 2 volume and 1 tone? Or can I go 2 volume and 2 tone? I kind of want to do the latter, but is it just weird? Or any other ideas? Thank you

I thought about making my active Jazz passive, and I would keep the side jack except get a good switchcraft model since the hole is there, and use a stack-knob 3-hole plate for VVT. But that’s just me...
But I wound up keeping it active because the Duncan preamp I have in it sounds exactly the same Active or Passive. I use it passive mostly, but kick it on if I need a bit more @$$ in the low-end.

why not just get a better preamp? Like an Audere Classic Jazz plate with a passive tone control...since you can use 4 pots (and you’d have an empty battery compartment as well...).

I think at least one member here did exactly that and has never looked back.
