I totally agree - this is the whole reason I started building. One possible problem with this is that once you start playing instruments that have the exact features you want there is a risk that you will be strongly dissatisfied with the "standard" options available in the marketplace. This is what happened to me, but I am able to scratch my own itch for features outside the norm.

I'm getting to the point where I will read the "options" of a mass produced bass and practically fall asleep during the lumber choices. I wake up to read the construction details and then nod off again.
I don't think there's anything wrong with conventional choices in instruments, but as I build better, I'm getting far more intrigued by the crazy stuff.
Thank you very much for the compliments! To be honest I have kept some of the more "out there" ideas and build plans to myself. As it is I feel like the more mundane things I have been sharing with you guys gets enough head scratching as it is.![]()
