Derringer died yesterday. He was everywhere when I first started going to shows including Johnny Winter and his brother Edgar's bands. So good with so much energy to every gig and responsible for writing one of the most called songs in basement jams when I first started playing, Rock & Roll Hoochie Koo. The live Roadwork album he did with White Trash was on my turntable a lot, especially because of Randy Jo Hobbs who was a huge early influence.
Fly on Rick.....................

RIP Rick Derringer

Many years ago Rick Derringer was at the Warrior booth at a local guitar show. I told him that I had seen him perform with
Johnnie Winter at The Filmore East. His reply was “ I’m glad you’re still alive “

I second the Roadwork album..there are some great tunes on that album and the bass tone is classic.

One of the best. Also played guitar on big hits for other people - Total Eclipse of the Heart (Bonnie Tyler), and Making Love Out of Nothing at All (Air Supply), which Rick described as his favorite solo. RIP, Rick.
