Rickenbacker finish issue (Resolved by RIC)

Again, some more weird wording. But I can see this turning into a rabbit hole.

So, we've established that it is a Limited Warranty. This means that the law in question can be applied to RIC.

Now, RIC says that in the absence of a warranty card, that a sales invoice showing the serial number, model number, and date of purchase will suffice.

Upon calling RIC out on that, they said the owners manual is not a legal document, and that the statement on the actual warranty card is.

Which leaves us at one of two scenarios.

1. RIC is wrong, plain and simple, and are only giving honest customers the run around.

2. This is a literature flaw, and regardless of legality needs to be addressed to prevent further confusion.

Either way, the entire situation is the definition of a quagmire. I really wish I wasn't in this position, but at this point I'm genuinely curious as to how this will end of panning out.

I have the receipt saved as a PDF on my computer. That's not going anywhere.

As far as the card, scans will be made before it leaves my possession.
a scan does not prove that you sent it nor that they received it, AND it explicitly states on their website that only the original card issued with the instrument sent within 10 days, will be honored.
the CS gut that wrote you asked you to send it in even though the 10 days has expired.

SUGGEST sent certified mail, Signature required.

without proof all they have to say is "we did not get it, and the card is required."

it's in their literature, and on their website (misspelled mind you)

Well, according to the BBB, RIC made Mark B. a happy camper by resolving his finish issue:

BBB Business Review for Rickenbacker International Corp

Mark B. is my hero.

Try asking for ******* **** and you should get better service.

;) :D

I have to ask after reading Mark's post OP, assuming Rick repairs your bass like they did for him, "would you recommend this company to a friend, family member, neighbour, or colleague?" I think I know the answer if they neglect to repair it so we don't have to go there.

Cool, no problem. I'm just waiting for you to hop on over to our side, based on how things are going with your situation.

All kidding aside, I don't hate Ric's really.

Even if this thing goes totally sideways and they don't honor it I won't be a RIC hater. I still love the instruments. They feel great, they look amazing and sound even better.

But my stance on purchasing, owning and dealing with them in general will shift radically. I can't say I'd buy another one, which is a shame because I love the one I have, finish problems aside. I wouldn't try to talk someone into or out of buying one, but I will certainly relate my experience to them. If it goes that way it will be all around unfortunate.

:D i think i'm doing well, by not hating or trolling, just collecting the historical data and posting it here, (and there is plenty) trying to support the OP's very cool even handed handling of this, and I'm betting the RIC employees are viewing this thread to be honest.
So civility and restraint, are not common at TB i'm pretty proud of us this time (myself excluded of course)
:)

Email I just sent to RIC:

I have found the original warranty card included with my instrument. My local USPS has closed for the day, I will mail it tomorrowwith tracked shipping to ensure timely delivery and receipt, along with a copy of my original sales invoice.

Sincerely.

I would think that should cover it.

Nice! I would also consider including the email with the part saying they would honor it highlighted.
