Rickenbacker finish issue (Resolved by RIC)

That's no good dude. Earlier in the thread there were several possible solutions mentioned, but they all looked relatively complex. Any information on how to treat/ or stop the spread would also be pertinent to this thread.
Tracked shipping won't cover it you need to make sure you get a signature, otherwise they can still claim they didn' t get it.
Roger that. I will make sure and spend the extra coin for shipping costs to ensure beyond any doubt that it was received by RIC.
And as a quick aside, much applause to the collective TB community for actually having a civil thread regarding Rickenbackers.

Sorry for harping, just trying to help you have a positive outcome. I have years under my belt dealing with slimebags.. don't give them ANY conceivable wiggle room, or Poof! They're off the hook.
You're not harping at all, I really appreciate the advice. Most of the stuff you've brought up I wouldn't have thought of.

I've only been playing bass for a bit over two years now and I don't have an opinion of Ric basses (other than that they look pretty cool) due to having never played one.
In saying that, I have already formed an opinion of their QC and customer service from many threads here on TB and the 'net in general and I can categorically state that I will never buy a new bass of theirs. I won't say that i'll never buy a second hand one however it would have to be a bargain and that just doesn't seem to happen with them, particularly here in Oz.
What I don't understand is how many people will overlook or defend Rics that have obvious flaws in their finish or parts fitting. It is a premium priced product and "Made In The USA" used to mean well built and finished. Would any of those that defend the defects as "part of the Ric mojo" accept peeling paint or other defects in a Cadillac, or put up with that company stonewalling on warranty? Would they continue to buy them when well known preventable issues keep arising? I know plenty of people have perfect Rics and love them (well, except for that crooked pickup, or that misaligned bridge), but when stories such as one in this thread stating that two out of three Rics in their local GC has finish issues come up repeatedly then there is a problem with their product.

It certainly isn't acceptable, and I have not or will not defend them against that point, because what you said is 100% true.
There will be defects in any major product, period. And I think this is a case of the guy who got the bad one is 1000x more likely to write up a bad Yelp review than the guy who had a good experience. Many people have gotten great Rics, and a lot of people haven't. I'm trying to not let my opinions be biased by other people's experiences, but I am certainly wary.
The thing with ric's in particular (imo) is that quality or CS aside, nothing can pretend to be or imitate a Rickenbacker. There is only one rickenbacker. Either you love them or you don't, but those that do overlook the flaws. Kind of like that girlfriend you know you should dump, but can't quite because the way she eats toast is really cute.
In my experience, it wasn't the way she ate toast that made me stay with her for longer than I should have.
There is registered mail and certified mail. According to Newman, all certified mail is registered, but registered mail is not necessarily certified. Sounds just like Ric. Or you could do a FedEx next day envelope for around $25.
So this thread got me thinking and I decided to see if my 2015 Ruby Red had this problem.
Seems to be there, but so far it's sticking really close to the bridge. I then went back and looked at this photo I took back when I first got the thing on Christmas Eve.
Looks like it was there all along. Doesn't seem to have gotten any worse in the last two months.
I really like everything about the instrument, and that small blemish really doesn't bother me, so I'm just going to leave it be. If it ever gets a lot worse, I'll just have the thing refinished in a rare color. Perhaps burgundy, or white tuxedo.

This certainly explains it to some degree.
So civility and restraint, are not common at TB i'm pretty proud of us this time (myself excluded of course)
i do agree that they look really great and sound amazing. I hope that they (Ric) make it easy for you to get it fixed.
I was offered a discount tonight on a new Jet-Glo. The discount was due to a Bubbling issue coming from one of the tuners. Ric needs to pull it together with their finishing process. I simply inquired about the price and they immediately disclosed the Defect.
