Rickenbacker finish issue (Resolved by RIC)

Any word/advice from WW OP? Curious as to how they address this and any "insight" they may have in dealing RIC HQ.
I would think that given the volume of RIC's they run through, they would have some clout...

I sent them an email yesterday, one of the guys there requested that I keep him in the loop. I told him what was going on, and he said if there was anything he could do to help to let him know. I was going to ask him if another warranty card was possible if I couldn't find mine, but I did so I haven't really had to request much of them yet.

Depending on how it goes from here, I might ask if they can contact RIC. If RIC honors the warranty, there isn't much need to get WW involved.

So basically, there hasn't been much reason to get them directly involved.

This whole thing sounds like a sub-plot for Scott Pilgrim VS the World.

I'm pretty much with @/\/\3phist0 at this point. If I buy a Ric, it's going to be used.

This was my pint earlier. Things at Rick will not change until the guys who write big checks to them, the retailers, demand it. Unfortunately, that means the consumer might need to turn the heat up on the retailers, even though the retailers position will always be to punt to the manufacturer.

Good that the guy at WW wants to be kept in the loop, but personally, I think they should be doing more. I think they should have asked you if they could call Rick to further advocate on your behalf. Not that they would lead the charge, it's currently "your problem" and on you to work through the process. But if I were running the shop, I'd be (with your permission) calling Rick and saying "you gotta make this right for my customer".

That's just the way I see customer service. I do it all the time in my real estate business.

UPDATE

I got my warranty card filled out, shipping label printed, copies of everything made and saved and everything packaged and ready to go. I included a written letter to RIC in the package:

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is __________. I purchased a Rickenbacker 4003JG from WildWood guitars in September of 2015. A bubble has formed by the bridge of the guitar, and I am seeking warranty work.

I placed a call to your customer service line on 02/08/16 and spoke to a gentleman named ______. He asked if I had submitted the warranty card. I had not, and I pointed out that in the Rickenbacker Owner’s Manual that it states in the absence of the warranty card that a sales invoice showing the serial number, model number and date of purchase would suffice. He instructed me to email my information to [email protected].

I did that right away, and received an email back the next morning. Whomever I was corresponding with informed me that the owner’s manual is not a legally binding document and that the original warranty card must be submitted. I asked if I sent the card in now if my warranty would still be honored, as my bass is still under the year from date of manufacture warranty. Your service department responded in the affirmative. Enclosed is a copy of that conversation with the appropriate passages highlighted for your convenience.

Also enclosed is a copy of my original sales invoice, a receipt for the package you are now holding, the original shipping label showing tracking number, ship date and expected date of delivery (all highlighted), and my completed Rickenbacker Warranty Card.

For confirmation of receipt I have requested an adult signature so that we can both confirm the package has been received. I have emailed all pertinent information to your service department.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact me at my email address: __________________. I will reply ASAP.

Thank you for the service

Sincerely,

________

02/11/16

I then sent the following email to RIC:

I have printed the shipping label for the warranty card and will be sending it out today. Enclosed in the envelope will be a copy of my original sales invoice, a receipt for the package, the original shipping label showing tracking number, ship date and expected date of delivery (all highlighted),and my completed Rickenbacker Warranty Card.
The tracking number for the package is _______________. I have requested that an adult sign for the package so we can both confirm delivery, which according to FedEx will be Tuesday, February 16th 2016, before 4:30 PM.
If you have any other questions or concerns please contact me via Email.
Sincerely,
_______________

I already have the tracking info tabbed, I am shipping this out today first thing when I get off work. After this the ball will pretty much be in RIC's court. As soon as I hear word I will update the thread.

I don't disagree. If RIC tries to pull funny business after recieving the warranty card then I will most likely reach out again to WW. But as of now there isn't a whole lot of reason to get them involved beyond what they already are. Hopefully this will be the end of it, but that's still up in the air.

To keep things interesting, here's a sound clip of the beast in action! This is just a live recording of practice. Mistakes galore but you can hear the goods. Fingerstyle on Rickenbacker 4003, Hartke LH500 head with a Mesa 4x10 1x15 Cab.

Very nice! Man, you are seriously breaking the rules around here. A jacked-up RIC and mixed cabs? You are walking a very fine line here...
