Rickenbacker

after a live show i've seen a strange thing. the bass player was playing a black rickenbacker 4001. the club was small and after the show i saw that the rick had a strange bridge pickup. it was exactly the same in the shape that the usual one, but the size was double in lenght! imagine a classic rick pickup but much bigger that fits exactly the huge hole in the rick body. have you ever seen anything like this?

There's the 4004 Cheyenne and Laredo models. Same Ric shape, but 2 humbuckers (vs single coils).

...plus, what is this new C serie? what are the hi gain pickups? i play an old ric and i've seen anything about this new line, can you help me?

The 4001C63 replaced the 4001V63. Not to be confused with the 4001CS (Chris Squire model) :p

I couldn't say. Haven't tried one. I would have to guess they're somewhat different.
I believe the "classic" Ric sound was the two single coils found on most 4003's.

I´ve seen (and heard to say the least!!!) Lemmy play his singature series basses in concert three times. They sounded exactly his old mapleneck Rick 4003. I guess there´s only one Lemmy, he would probably sound the same on most Rickenbackers.
Last time I saw them I noticed that he had installed an old metal pickup assembly thing between two of the small humbuckers. There was no pickup in it. I think that he probably felt he needed the pickup cover as a handrest.

Motorhead kicks ass, I live in New York near NYC and they played a tine hole in the wall club about an hour north and I couldnt make it. I am so bitter, this place is so small that there is no barricade between the audience and stage. You can literally get to the front and grab the performers ankles. Damn am I bitter, there is always next time, I dont think those guys will ever retire.

You know people always talk about Rickenbackers and associate them with McCartny Geddy Lee and Chris Squire. I think Lemmy would kick all of their ass' in a fight. All hail Lemmy, the only man who is manly enought to tame the Rickenbacker.

nothing against geddy but with that voice it would probally sound like a girl getting smacked around, mcCartney would tell him to calm down and had him a hemp, squire would be pranceing around in his fairy boots
