Rickenbacker's "secret"?

Here's a little trick to make you Rick sound better ...

The 4003 basses usually come from the factory with the nut cut too high. Some of them it is bad enough to where playing notes on the first 2 frets makes those notes go sharp.

Lower the nut and / or deepen the grooves and your Rick will play better and sound better.

I always thought the nut on my 4003 looked way too high. However, I get E string fret buzzing playing F, F# & G. If I raise the bridge a tad then the entire action gets too high for my liking. I believe the neck is dead straight.
