Priorities first. You need a girlfriend with a car!
Building on this idea, a couple of 2x10s that handle the OP's MB Fusion at 4 ohms and hand truck may solve all his problems. Yes? No?How about an Ampeg micro stack? 2x10 cabinet and small 100W head, weighs maybe 15 lbs. real light, small, LOUD and can fit on a luggage cart. I lived in NYC for years, I know the trials of gigging without a car. Good luck!
Aguilar Tonehammer DI...How 'bout a preamp or direct box going straight into the board and using monitors that may or may not be present in the places you perform?
I've currently got an MB Fusion and may be upgrading to a MiniMega this summer if it's as good as it looks from description and specs.
I'd love to just get a 1x12, get someone to make a nice strong backpack type case for it and go that way, but I haven't seen anything that'll handle the Fusion at full power in a form factor I could carry on my back.
I was/still am in the exact same position as you and I went for a Genz Benz 210 cab. It's reasonably light (although I would hate to carry it more than 500metres...)
I can (and have) gone to gigs on the bus like this... cab in hand with a gig bag on my back and my Genz Benz Stl 6.2 head.. It's a little awkward but it works!
