Rig Advice for someone without a car

Hi TBers
Here's the situation: Due to not being able to drive I need a good loud rig that'll fit in the back of smallish cabs, on a hand cart for transit/walking or have its own tiltback transport system. I have to be able to pull it behind me. I've currently got an MB Fusion and may be upgrading to a MiniMega this summer if it's as good as it looks from description and specs.
I play mostly metal at this point, but I don't have a steady band so that could change. I'm a 5 stringer, so I'd like something that can handle the low B, but still give me some clarity for higher notes.
The options I've found I can test before buying are the Mesa Powerhouse 1200 and a Traynor 8x8 cab. Other options I'm looking at are AudioKinesis and Barefaced, a stack of TC Electronic 2x10's, or a 6x10 from Mesa or Ampeg.
Are there any other suggestions I should think about? Opinions on the cabs mentioned for my type of music? Should I give up, find a stage monitor or set of IEMs and do everything through the PA and hope I don't get a gig where there isn't one?
Thanks for any opinions offered.

With that stuff, a cab will never stop for you. Try a Mesa Walkabout. They are made for walking about.

When you call a cab, they will come. You can inform then there will be several pieces of luggage. I was a cabbie, trust me.

I know this thread is almost a year old but I would recommend a big enough combo just to hear yourself on stage and a DI like a Whirlwind. The person doing sound will love you for it. in a pinch just take the DI and use a floor monitor, won't sound the greatest to your ears but will get er done.

You confused me, I had to check the OP because I could have sworn that this thread was started today!

Seems like you are in the wrong genre- OR- if your band is metal enough, let the drummer or guitard(s) transport your cabinet to and from gigs for you. Case solved.
Any band that wants me to play something bigger than I own or want to transport is WELCOME to provide me what ever size/type backline they want to.

I worked for many years in Boston taking cabs/bus/trains to gigs with this:

Schroeder 1212 with corner casters and a pop up handle mounted to the back. Worked well. Maybe not my favorite tone but the cab cuts through a loud mix well. Perfect for what I needed.

My very own GK212MBE on the tough $25 hand truck from Home Depot, on its way out the door and into a NYC cab right now. I can lift it with one arm, it fits in a trunk or through most car doors. Cuts like nuts. I suggest it.

Will all posters please take note that the OP already has a Fusion head? Because the doctor's head seems destined for nuclear fission! I prescribe two chill pills and post in the morning after the fever breaks.

Thanks for your concern.

fellow former driver here, although I might get coaxed back into it someday.....
Here in LA, easily half the cabs are vans; I have NO problem with two DB112nt cabs (and bass, amp head, gig bag, etc.)
I never have to look for a parking space; never pay to park and never had my car broken into. And I can drink till closing time without worrying about the drive home. Leave the driving to the pros, its the only way to fly!

Any thoughts on the GK MB150S-112 for my situation? I'm thinking it probably wouldn't be loud enough. But that was definitely the most interesting thing I saw at the shop today. Light, sounded great and was flexible.
It sounds like places with PA systems are around 50-50 here, so having a cab, or a band with their own PA is a good idea. Of course if the band has their own PA I'd most likely just go IEMs or monitors and use the head's direct out.
Didn't get a chance to try the RS cab or Rumble V3. Hopefully stock comes in at some point. No bass cabs except 1x15's, probably 8x10's and 4x10's in stock there whatsoever. There may be another place with at least the RS 2x10, possibly others, I'll give them a try Saturday.
In regards to taxis, as long as I've lived here they've all been standard cars. No partitions, no customized vehicles. We've got some Toyota hybrids, some loud clunkers that sound like they'll fall apart any minute and everything in between, as well as a few vans. I stick with one company and always call to request, so if there are any issues of whatever sort the trip is logged.

When I started this, I never expected it'd get to 7 pages. But it has, and a lot of great suggestions. Just want to thank everyone for their time and thoughts in contributing to this.

I agree with this btw... had one of these for a while as a stop-gap amp between big rigs... If you get the 2nd speaker cab, and get the 4Ohm version you get get some serious sound of of that head... though you're talking $2300 for the whole rig, not cheap ..

Another good option is a Markbass Cmd 112P. It's only about $900.
