Indeed. It was Bill Bruford. But the article didn't say that.

I was in an opening band for a version of Yes years ago and shared a dressing room with White, a real gentleman and awesome drummer.

Wow. I didn't even realize Yes had still been putting out albums. Listening to "The Quest" album now. Drumming just as tight as ever.

I got to hang with Alan and other YES members after a show in 1999. He was very friendly, and even bought me a drink when he found out it was my birthday



He was very easy going, funny, and treated me like a longtime friend after having known me for thirty minutes. He still got a twinkle in his eye when talking about hanging out watching TV in bed with John, Yoko, and Eric Clapton , 30 years earlier, when he was 20, 21ish.

The article is accurate: White joined the band for the Close to the Edge TOUR, and their first ALBUM he played on was Tales.

It's been edited. The original article specifically said that CTTE was the first album he played on, at least when I read it. I don't know if that particular article was later edited by someone at the website, but the article that's up there now is more accurate.

Man, this is too bad. I was a Peart aficionado for the most part, but Alan White was right there on that mental list as well. He was an awe-inspiring talent in his own right.

Very sad news.
Alan was a celebrity judge several times for a benefit competition that our law firm band participated in and won.
He seemed to like us but even though I was playing a Rickenbacker I’m sure I didn’t compare to his band mate Chris. He was polite anyway.

Geez Louise…wow ….I just got through reading an interview with him yesterday morning. What a great drummer and a nice person. Saw him with Yes twice.

YES has been my favorite rock band since I was 8. This hits pretty hard. Almost as hard as Chris.......
