Damn, this one hurts. Willy Wonka, his genius work with Mel Brooks, and the first two movies with Pryor are an important part of my childhood and young adulthood. As everyone else says, he seemed so kind and gentle along with being funny and odd. I thought it was really cool when he and Gilda got together. RIP, Mr. Wilder.

I have to admit, I kind of liked it.

Apparently in Willy Wonka, it was his idea to walk out of the factory limping with a cane and then do a tumble to reveal he can walk fine. Just goes to show how goofy he was. Such an odd and brilliant moment. He was great.

Funny! And when it was on TV, I couldn't sit through to the end. Was he trying to be effeminate, freaky, or just plain weird? I didn't get it or the whole take on it. Stunk.
