One of the funniest and most likable people I've ever seen in movies. RIP, Mr. Wilder, and thanks for the memories!
Wonderful comedian. By all accounts a wonderful person. 83 is a good run and he left the world a little bit better than he found it. You can't do much better than that.
Man you are fast. I just got the notification on my phone. I actually met him several times; used to rent movies at the video store I worked at. Really nice and quiet guy. Felt bad about his 1st wife and his 2nd wife seemed nice.
Talk about irony: the manager of the video store whom Gene could relate to because he too was/is famous is Dennis Dunaway! I didn't even know he played bass for Alice Cooper for I was never big fan of that band and I wasn't a bass player at that time.

I had the good fortune to meet and spend some time with Mr Wilder a few months after Young Frankenstein was released. He was a very nice, mild mannered, and personable
man. May he RIP. His contribution to the story of our lives is immeasurable.

OH MAN THAT REMINDS ME OF A STORY! So a normal Saturday afternoon at the video store. Just killing time waiting till 9pm comes. I see someone push a video of "Young Frankenstein" on the counter to rent it. I look up and it's Gene, I look down at the movie and back up to Gene. I did this a few times, then shrugged my shoulders and sent him on his way. To this day I regret not asking him "Why are you renting a movie you are in?"
Apparently in Willy Wonka, it was his idea to walk out of the factory limping with a cane and then do a tumble to reveal he can walk fine. Just goes to show how goofy he was. Such an odd and brilliant moment. He was great.
