Mark Lanegan, Screaming Trees and Queens of the Stone Age Singer, Dies at 57

I got to see the Seattle date of that tour when they played El Corazon. Mark's songs were the best.

His voice will surely be missed. I never saw him live but I've always been a fan. I haven't listened to his entire solo catalog but his album "Blues Funeral" is pretty great.

I was a massive fan of Screaming Trees and Lanegan's solo work with Mike Johnson back in the day. It saddened me to see Lanegan repudiate his early work and treat his collaborators with such contempt. I still don't understand why he chose to do that.

His early solo work will forever live with me. Whiskey for the Holy Ghost is one of those albums that's too good to listen to often, lest I wear out its welcome.

Screaming Trees, QOTSA, and his solo stuff keep finding their way into heavy rotation. Now it will be with heavy heart.

eyes are wet....bloody hell...Always wanted to shake his hand look him straight in the eye and thank him for all his work, but the chance of that remained just a small wish, so i reached out a few years back online and thanked him, i wanted to let him know..
he was a true ''bluesman'' that lived a hell of a life that gave a soundtrack that helps me to this day get through my own.
will greatly miss him. RIP

I hope he found some inner peace in his final years. I imagine the move to Ireland was a new start of sorts. Such a sad day. He was a true conduit. For me, he was The Guy.

Very sad indeed. Like many, I was introduced to him through Screaming Trees but feel it was through his solo work that he really found his voice and expression.

Just before Josh Homme started QOTSA he joined Screaming Trees for the Dust tour playing rhythm. I saw them at the student union building at Western Washington U. Dust was my favorite Screaming Trees record and that was quite a show.

Really upset by this news. Screaming Trees had a profound influence on me and my early bands. What a unique voice, what a unique talent. I hope his family finds peace, but 57 is just too damn young.
