RIP Pete Way

Another one gone. Pete Way, formerly of UFO, passed today from injuries sustained in an accident a couple of months back.

Pete Way was one of my main influences when I was young. Had every UFO album up to the live album. Pete never disappointed. Saw them live twice during the glory years. What a rock show. And then also yesterday morning my first “band mom” passed as well. Theresa was my guitar players mom. We practiced in the basement every Thursday night For 2 years. Never a complaint. Hauling in equipment on the weekend at 4-5-6AM All pie eyed, laughing, no doubt banging the door jams. She loved us. So my music influences took a big hit yesterday. I do know that if Theresa would have met Pete she would have said, “That Pete, he is such a nice boy”. A tough one for me yesterday

Look for it as an ebook at your local library. Mine had it available.
Here's another good book on them:

In his UFO prime, Pete was a straight-up badass on stage. Larger than life. Women wanted him, men wanted to be him. Great player, great entertainer. I was a teen when I saw him in Columbus, Ohio (in UFO, late-70's) on the large theater stage. Big influence, if for no other reason than I wanted to have that kind of presence and entertain people in that way.

And, T-Birds. Yeah.

RIP
