RIP - Roy Clark

My Dad was not a big Country fan but he appreciated the musicianship on Hee Haw and we watched it every week.

Not my style of music, but an incredibly talented musician and a great guy. My most memorable viewing of Roy was watching him play 'Yesterday, When I Was Young' at Mickey Mantle's funeral... it was so beautiful and such the perfect song for the moment, it brought me to tears.

Man, I remember growing up it was Chet Atkins, George Van Eps, and Les Paul, and later on Glen Campbell and Roy Clark who were the guitarists to look up to.

Did not know this. What a great guy! His incredible playing goes without question. I used to think it was EVH that was my inspiration to play the guitar... this reminds me that it was this gentleman. I remember seeing him on TV when I was probably 8 or 9 and said to myself, "I want to play the guitar". Of course, he was well-versed on other instruments also. What a shame. Thanks Roy, for making the world a better place. RIP.

I was never a country music fan, but it's impossible to not recognize such a phenomenally talented musician like that. The man was a smokin' guitar player. My parents never missed Hee Haw, so I heard a lot of his playing while I was growing up.

He made me laugh so much with his eye rolls and crazy playing. His songs were awesome... in particular check out "Thank God and Greyhound" hilarious.

I always enjoyed when he would guest star on Beverly Hillbillies as Cousin Roy. I am not versed in posting videos so I hope someone could find and post. His banjo playing was also phenomenal.

I just learned that country virtuoso Roy Clark has passed away. As many of you know, Roy was an incredible musician and enormous talent.

Roy Clark, country guitar virtuoso, 'Hee Haw' star, dies at 85

Sad day for sure. Hands down the best banjo player that ever lived. So smooth and creative. Why they made him sing and play the guitar instead Is way beyond me. Not that I was a big C&W fan, or a big fan of bluegrass, it’s a big loss for that community.

RIP Roy...keep grinnin’.
