RIP - Roy Clark

Here is my favorite Roy Clark cut. If you are looking for more of his absolulty incredible guitar work it will most likely leave you less than impressed.
What this song is for me is the embodiment of the joy and fun Mr. Clark brought to every thing i’ve ever seen him play, both live and recorded. It was so obvious Roy was having a natural ball any time he had an instrument in his hands. For me Roy was as inspiring for his enjoyment of what he was doing as he was for his absolutly killer technical ability.
RIP and Godspeed Mr. Clark. Heaven got a little brighter today.

I just learned that country virtuoso Roy Clark has passed away. As many of you know, Roy was an incredible musician and enormous talent.

What a loss.

RIP.

Roy Clark, country guitar virtuoso, 'Hee Haw' star, dies at 85
I grew up with a dad that played on the Grand Ole Opry. Although I decided rock music was where I wanted to be country was where I made my mark. Roy Clark was the country guitarist that I wish i had been. Roy Rest In Peace from a devoted fan and wanna be as good as you

I was lucky to grow up with a dad that loved classic country. We would watch Hee Haw in the evening when I was young. I fondly remember "Buck and Roy and pickin and grinnin ". Roy was a very talented musician and seemed like a great guy. Rest in peace Roy, thanks for all the great music and crazy sketch comedy.

I'm very sad to learn this. Roy is one of the reasons I picked up guitar as a young lad. Another highly under-rated master of the six string and banjo for sure. Roy and Buck Owens together always had me glued to the TV set as a kid. Won't forget him.

Reactions: the harp unstrung
I remember him from my distant childhood- watching HeeHaw whilst sitting on the living room floor. Dad would always be yelling something at me, like "get back from the TV, you'll go blind!"

i would always come back with something to the effect of, "but I really like the music!"

Irony- today, I'd rather jump off a cliff or die in a plane crash than listen to/play Country*, be it new or old!

* Exception- Johnny Cash! Although, he wasn't REALLY country, but kinda was at the same time. More like the punk rocker of country...
