Aw man, another one gone. I loved Sweet back I was in middle school and still like a lot of their mid-70s songs. Give Us a Wink, with the winking album cover, was the first album I ever bought with my own money. I was about 11 or 12 at the time.

One of my favorite bassists, singer, songwriter, and band leaders ever. Sweet is one of the most revolutionary bands ever. They were doing what Queen became famous for before they even existed.

I loved The Sweet. Even their Chinn-Chapman bubblegum period, which really wasn't so bubblegum other than "Wig Wam Bam" and "Little Willy." That album from that era is really good otherwise. RIP Steve.

They were such an underrated band imo. Damn shame too. They even had a show this year in Pasadena, CA in June..

RIP Steve Priest, great player, great singer. Great band. I was just discussing Sweet with my guitarist buddy yesterday when we learned of this.

Loved the Sweet the first time I heard them in HS. Had all their records. Still have many.

When my kids were little I ripped a CD of some of my favorite 45s to listen to in the car on long drives. It began with Ballroom Blitz. My youngest daughter loved the CD and would listen to it even when we were not in the car. One morning she announced how great a song Ballroom Blitz was and that the girl singers were really good and she really liked the way they were screaming. I corrected her that those were men. As she exited the the room with a frown on her face, not believing me, my wife said to me, "Better not show her the album cover, it will just confuse her further".

They were constantly on Top of the Pops when I was a child.
Their hits were played everywhere.
