Ahh, yours is a post I've been looking for. I'm Tim's daughter and found this site recently only to learn how many gave tribute to my Father after he passed. I'm glad I did, but regarding an old magazine I still have a copy of I'll find the rubber maid and forward the volume number and dates. Sterlene
RIP, Tim! Great thread and wonderful to see Tim’s daughter show up! I had no idea of how Tim got started in music or the James Brosn connection, wow!
I wasn't aware of the site, I was actually looking into the Wiki page as there are gaps in it. For instance, there's nothing about Lonnie Mack. But I saw this and signed on, it was nice to see how many paid tribute to my Father. However, the song "I can't stand it" clearly calls out Dad by name. And few know he went to Vietnam with Brown to perform for the troops. But try going to grade school and announcing that to classmates! Thanks, Sterlene
Happy Easter one and all. I'm planning an acknowledgement of my Father's 4/20 Birthday posthumously, as I always do. But encourage all to wish Carol Kaye a Happy 88th Birthday. Another bass player with a fine resume.

Well today's Dad's Birthday and I've got a pot of chili on as it was a fav. But I'm still new to this and don't know how to make a general post to all. Also, wish I'd known there's a page that can be found under my Dad.com where many wrote R.I.P.'s Any suggestions as to how the two sites can meet? Meantime crank up anything you see on his Wiki page and celebrate his birthday! I say it's the best way to honor those who are jammin' in the sky.

But welcome to TGP and hopefully you can share some stories of your dad, what a career he had! I had heard of Tim but like many, had no idea the scope of his contributions (me being 63)....thanks again!
Maybe you just caught the Birthday spirit. Dad was an International Cookoff Trophy winner, so I put a pot on in his memory. Many have said of him but not the expanse of his career. Another looked at his bio and wrote, looks like we all heard him whether we knew it or not. Many seemed taken aback that he worked with James Brown! But thanks for the Bday wish, stay warm. Sterlene, sorry I missed your reply, I’m not as active on this site as I used to be. Ken is an interesting guy and quite a character. He was very close with my (maternal) grandfather and I remember him coming back from Montana when I was a kid and he and my father up late talking about hunting. My mother and Kenny are first cousins, their mothers were sisters. She’s quit a few years younger that Kenny and remembers your father and him around my Aunt Pauline’s (Kenny’s mother) house in Canton, IL when they were young (teenagers?).
We met Kenny at Monicals Pizza in Canton a few years back and he told me stories of your father calling him while on tour in Europe. I think he said that he was hanging out with George Harrison, Mick Jagger and some other legends while they were on the phone. What a great story!
So nice to see your posts on here!

That clip is amazing! I just love that he calls for some “bass” and then says “Tim” and your dad lays it on him….. then James dances like a madman! Classic!
I'm glad we made contact, I was surprised to see the connection to Ken here. He was a great friend to Dad who took me to his Canton home as a child. There was a mounted deer on the wall, I thought he was larger than life. He posted a great story about Dad from long ago, it really made me laugh. I'll see if I can pull it up.
