Thanks ! I totally agree on getting basses to feel better... they're pacifiers for grown up men ! :D

I'm also considering starting up on my own... but it would make more sense financially to get another job in China and add padding to the bank account first :)

I'm not going with the LEDs on it, although the thought did cross my mind. It's an expensive option, and I think I have enough stuff to catch the eye as it is...! I did ask Jens for matching Neon green side dots on the neck, but I don't want any inlays to mess with the frosted black fretboard.

I seem to have trouble with my e-mail right now, but when I get through, I'll shoot Jens another e-mail and ask him about the preamp, seems we're all getting a little confused here :)

And congrats on your decision to go with a Jupiter for your next build...! It's an awesome looking bass, but one that I would want to hold in my hands before placing an order for one.

BTW, anybody else noticed that the Simpsons bass is a Royal Series bass, but it doesn't have the single "R" on the truss rod cover...?

Greg, your bass is going to be quite something!! And of course, it has to be, so it can match the rest of your collection!!

I see your point on the inlays, a black frosted fingerboard will make the neon strings jump out to the audience!!

The Jupiter was love at first sight for me... I've been dreaming with one for ages...
I do love the look of the black frosted ones, but I want something different to make company to my other Ritters (the Okon is already black)...
Right now, I'm thinking a carrara frotsed, with maple fingerboard and pickup, and golden hardware (something like a Cora...). But then, I have time to change my mind, until the money appears! :cool:

Perhaps we should buy Chinese basses... Wouldn't that solve our problems??? :D

Those are very nice, classic looking options, for sure...! :)
I wouldn't even know where to start if I should design a Jupiter... did Jens ever make one that wasn't solid color (lacquer, copper, etc)?

Well, I got a reply from Jens regarding the preamp options. His standard options are now:

1) Ritter Master - like the one shown on the website, and the one most of us have.
2) Ritter C-3, which is the one first made for the Cora, but is now also available in other basses (like my new one...!).

Then he can always make custom versions, like the one in the Blue Orange or in the Simpsons bass.

@gregduboc: I asked Jens about ordering a Shudarella and looks like I was (partly) right.
Any customer can order a bass with drawings, graphic design,... (like the Simpsons bass). But for a "real" Shudarella it's different.
Jens decides on the model. Shudarella gets complete freedom on what to do with it.
There's a new Shudarella in the making. It will be presented at the Frankfurt Musikmesse in april. Those interested will have to be quick though. The Shudarella 4 Jugendstring was sold within 30mins after the release.

I don't know about anything other than the ones on the History Album. I am also considering a Jupiter with distinct graphics, let's see what Jens has to say.
A Jupiter with a nice wood top would also look cool... So many options!!! :help:

Folks, I'm involved in running a Bass Get-Together (GTG) for TalkBass bassists in the Washington D.C. area. Our next GTG is Sunday, June 26th and we've been very lucky to secure Jens as our Special Guest Luthier!

Jens will be flying in from Germany to take the stage to talk about his basses, what inspires him, how he builds, what his plans are for the future, etc. and answer questions from the audience. It will be his only US visit for the remainder of 2011.

I've discussed with Jens about also making this a owners event and getting as many of us as we can together and he's on board for that too!

So, if anyone fancies coming to DC on June 26th then drop me a pm. We're still in the early stages of planning but we hope to have a group rate secured with a local hotel for those who may come from further away.

The event itself will be fun filled - lots of basses and rigs to try, a performance and technique clinic (we'll be announcing our clinician very soon!) mini-clinics, a swap meet, food as well as a great door prize raffle where, for starters, we'll be giving away a custom bass (build thread is on the luthier section) as well as a whole load of goodies. We traditionally finish things up with a jam session where we'll have a backing band and a set of tunes folks can lay down some bass too, although if you want to pick-up a guitar, hits some drums or tinkle the ivories that's cool too.

In all it will be a great event and it a great chance to meet and 'Talk Bass' with Jens and a whole load of like minded players. (www.dmvbass.com is the website we put together for information).

Anyone going to the MusikMesse in Frankfurt next week (April 6-9)?
Jens will be at Hall 4.0 J36
There will be some very nice new basses, including the new Shudarella 5 "BrainStorm". The most beautiful Shudarella IMO.
I wish I had the money :rolleyes:

Anyway, I'm going to be there on Wednesday. Not that I'm looking for something new, I'm very happy and consider myself very lucky with my current set up :D
