Hallo Basdyret, vielen Dank für das herzliche Willkommen - and now it´s up to me to practise my school english. :-)

Thanks for adding me to the Ritter´s owner club - no. 45 sounds great. :-)
Sometimes later I´ll post some pics of my Ritter beauties.

Oh yes, I own and play a Merlin 600 amp. The best amp I ever had the chance to play with. Two AccuGroove caps, the right bass and the sound is impressiv. But I never had the chance to play through some Triebwerk caps. Last year I saw a Treibwerk III 4x10 on bassmarkt.de. Here is the link, maybe you´re lucky to get it.

Oh, that is tempting... I never saw one for sale second hand before. My only problem is I recently moved back to China, so getting it here would be very difficult :hmm:

I guess I'll have to "live" with my current stack... :p

If you never tried the Merlin 600 with Triebwerk cabs, then you may be lucky - because you would have to own them! :D Hardy Kurandt has matched them masterfully, and my stack has permanently killed any GAS for other amps. Yes, it's heavy as hell, but it is simply perfection, I've never had anything but beautiful and extreme Hi-Fi sound from it, even at the most insane volumes.
I once played a tent concert in a small town with no PA, and later heard that a few kilometers away people could hear my bass lines clearly and wondered where the rest of the band was :ninja:

Anyway, I'm sure you have a similarly nice setup with the AccuGroove cabs, not bad stuff either :)

looking at these wonderful instruments is a joy in itself

can anyone enlighten me?

from all the pics there are few closeups of the neck button or headstocks - it looks like Ritter uses both angled back headstocks and typical (think Fender) flat headstocks

is this an option? is one style standard for some models and the other for other models?

one of the angled headstocks I did see a closeup of looked like the heal/headstock woods were of a different piece rather than the typical scarf joint

I've not seen any Ritter with headstock buttons. All the Ritters I've seen have an angled back headstock.

Attached are a couple of pics of one of my Ritters. You can't see from this one, but the heal is integral to the neck and headstock, it is not either a joint such as a scarf or a different piece. Jens does vary the size of these to 'tune' the bass. The heal on this bass is a lot bigger than the heal on my other Roya.

The neck/headstock is one of the most underlooked parts of a Ritter IMHO. Normally the bodies get all the attention, but the necks, headstock and boards are a beautiful in their own right!

Arh, I guess you posted a pic in your previous post, did you? I'm in China, so if you did the pic server is probably blocked - I just saw the text. Usually don't switch my VPN on for Talkbass :)

Anyway, sorry to squeeze you for your serial, but a part of the fun in the Owners Club is too see who owns which Ritter bass(es). And a warm welcome to the club...! You Raptor is a particularly beautiful specimen, I'm sure it plays like a dream.

I remember seeing a Ritter in Rudy's up on 48th street, it had to be over 5 years ago. Maybe closer to 8 years now. The core wood was actually described as figured, I want to say flamed, swamp ash. Swamp Ash is by far my favorite core/tone wood and I have seen some beautiful pieces along the way ( Sadowsky/F Bass ) but I have yet to see anything that has come close to what Jens used in that particular bass. Heck I did'int think ash could even figure that way. :cool: :bassist:

There is no cure for GAS, especially when you are on TB :)

But the Le Fay should get you going for a while ;)

And I can't blame you for the R8 GAS, by the way... great looking basses, for sure.

I think my next Ritter will be a Cora, though... I don't have anything in the "Jazz-area" now, sold my old Fenders a few years ago. But I'll have to work hard to wait to place another order... I keep telling myself that 3 Ritters should keep me floating for a while...! :p
