I have two orders from another custom builder being built right now, but after seeing the way this builder handled himself against something like this it just made me like his work even more. I am definitely going to have to put in an order with him soon. It sucks that there are not better international laws to prevent this!

I saw your bass (again) when I was in Deidesheim. Looks like Jens is going to stick with the original OPA-drive parts for your Okon.

I played some of the basses he'll bring to the MusikMesse and they're just fantastic, especially the R8's.

I finally decided on the features of my R8.
It will be very similar to [Invalid or Expired Link Removed].

- A body with 50% flamed maple (front) and 50% Alder(back). The flamed maple pattern will go from left to right in stead of top to bottom.
- 5-string
- triplebuckers
- Maple neck with ebony fingerboard and oval ring inlays
- C3-S electronics
- Chrome hardware
- 24 frets
- Worn black finish / High gloss
- 34,5""
- Vintage string spacing
Probably ready in September or October

I'll be at the Messe on Friday March 23rd

Very cool. I can't wait to see your bass with the horizontal flames, that's going to look really different. Guess it's hard to bookmatch? :)
Those inlays are too cool.

What would you say is the largest difference in feel between a Roya and the R8?

I might just start lusting after one of these... :ninja:

I've asked Jens for a picture of the flamed maple. I didn't have my camera with me at that time.
But with his current schedule it'll probably be after the MusikMesse.

I've played Nr 1203 and the sandblasted 1208.

The R8 body shape felt really natural. It plays somewhat better sitting down than the Roya because of the bigger lower horn. Other than that... it's a Ritter :D

Nr 1203 was really different for me. 4-string (haven't played one in over 20 years) and maple (I have 3 swamp ash basses). This one was like a race machine. Very fast neck and an impressive sound. One of the reasons why I went for a (50%) maple body.

The 1208 felt/sounded more familiar being a 5-string with swamp ash body.

The 50% maple - 50% Alder body is an experiment.

Daniel was working on the body of a (sold) Raptor. Impressive instrument with very nice body wood and finish!! I hope it's finished for the Messe. I would really like to try that one.

Is it OK if I play your Okon at the Messe? I'm very curious about the OPA-drive.

I have to squeeze in a visit at Jens' when I'm in Germany in June, so I can finally see his place and try out a bunch of R8s - and some other stuff, of course :)

No problem with you trying my Okon at the Messe, hope it's as cool as I've imagined :p

Lots of pics of new basses headed for the Musikmesse in Frankfurt here:

I especially like this Cora:

And also the finish on the new bolt-on Concept Roya is interesting:

My Okon was also supposed to be there... at least Jens promised it would be up by last week :) Well, maybe I'll catch a glimpse of it if anybody's kind enough to upload a pic from his booth at the Musikmesse.

I know he wanted to put the original OPA-drive parts back in, because the smaller parts didn't sound that good. Maybe he didn't get around to it.
On the other hand, maybe he just didn't have time to upload all new instrument pictures and focused on the newly available ones.

If it's at the Messe, then I'll take some pics

Did anyone here one of that batch of Ritters that appeared on EBay the other week?

Maybe 4 of them, all from the same seller, I remember a white cora, a bittermint Roya, a Shudarella and maybe even a Royal as well!

A couple of them sold for what seemed to be 'bargain' prices for a Ritter - too much for me because I'm in UK & the shipping & import duties would have pushed them back up to 'regular' prices again :(

What? I just checked completed listings and found those 4 - they were ernval's Ritters, so I guess he cut seriously back on his collection.

I'm only happy that I didn't see those listings... would have made me a poor man! I would not have been able to resist that one piece flame Roya Concept... what a ridiculous price it sold for! The Shudarella also went for relatively small money compared to the price new.

Ernval, are you still around...? Curious to know if this was caused by new GAS or just to ease the pain of the very jealous guys in this thread...? :)

On another note, I can see Brian Barrett's copper Jupiter is currently on eBay, as well as what looks very much like The Fireburl, which is also a devillishly cool looking bass.

When I first saw them on eBay my first thought was "Wow!" I intended to bid on the White Cora, but I got sidetracked that day and missed the end of the auction. "Doh" was my first thought when I saw what it sold for.

Still, what's meant to be.....

... if anybody's kind enough to upload a pic from his booth at the Musikmesse.

Jens brought your bass to the Messe on the first day, but then noticed he forgot the tremelo arm, so he took it back home.
So, no pics :hmm:

Anyone know what's holding up the hanging Ritters?

I have a little dilemma with my Roya 5 - many of my basses are hanging on these:

Hercules Guitar Stand GSP39SB

but they don't quite work with the combination of neck width & volute...

Anyone tried one of these with a Roya?

Hercules Guitar Hanger GSP29WB

Hoping someone has already solved this & can provide advice... Also hoping for something that works with standard slat-wall as well...

Thanks in advance!

Thank you frizzle,

I'll source an Ultimate Support dealer in my area (or order on-line)... The yoke looks deeper & I'm hoping for a nice fit. I see they make a slatwall version as well...

Love the dangling Ritters on display - I've seen a "Ritter on a Rope" before & always wondered if the tuners could withstand the stress - they seem to be holding just fine...

Cheers!
