Ritter with buckle rash

My Ritter has some minor rash actually. The Frosted black finish peels quite easily actually. I don't really mind, to be honest. BTW, my Fodera Imperial has a little dent on the lower bout as well. And the 66 Prec is pretty worn too... I still love them all to pieces!

So there you go, feel free to taunt me for playing and "abusing" my basses in the real world. Haha!

I hosted a huge jam last night and had no problem allowing anyone/everyone play my $4k Roscoe. If it was a Ritter, I would do the same. Not looking for anyone to beat up my basses on purpose, but they need to be played!

wow-----pretty cavalier attitude towards taking care of equipment regarding damage that is so easy to avoid. I was shocked someone could be so slovenly about the care of their bass---any bass, cheap or expensive. But to each their own.
I have played the h out of an instrument and kept it sharp---but that's just me. Hey, I guess if it ain't mine its none o' my beeswax, but I still cringe.

I hate to say it, but I don't think we think the same about how easy it is to avoid if you gig out a lot nor what the purpose of a bass is in the first place. Nor how lame I'd feel about a 70s-80s Les Paul with absolutely no wear on it. I'd say in both your posts, your sentiments are nowhere near what mine are. good time to understand that people have different purposes for the instruments.

I once played with a guitarist that was so anal about his Les Paul that he would only get it out of the case after lifting the lid for a split second then closing it again for 10 seconds, then repeat and repeat and repeat, leaving the case lid open a few nanoseconds longer each time. Somebody had told him that the finish would craze if it was exposed to sudden changes in humidity and temperature - hence this ridiculous ritual on every gig. You might like to audition for his band?

In my view, nobody goes out to beat up their basses but I actually enjoy the patina of age on my basses

a little wear and tear doesnt take away anything form a good bass IMO. my warwick ( which is the 2nd most expensive thing i own) has some scratches and marks on it, but im fine with it. i EARNED those marks at gigs.

you know, if you are a t-shirt kind of guy on stage then having a buckle is pretty freakin dumb in the first place.

point of which is that some genres you DO tuck your shirt in if you are playing on stage.

valid counterpoint is I haven't seen many ritters on the country scene, as that could turn into a 'session players need Fenders' thread real quick
