Road Worn basses...why not cabs?

So companies are making a "road worn" series of new basses and guitars...would you buy a brand new cab but had that "road worn" look?

Personally I love the road worn look so I would.

IMO carpet gets ugly when worn, so I suspect you're referring to tolex. It's not too difficult for tolex cabs to acquire the road-worn look... just transport 'em without a cover.

i personally think "road worn" basses are the lamest thing ever. why would anybody want fake wear and tear on a bass? if youre that deadset on getting a bass with wear and tear, get a legit old bass thats beat up. the price is already lower due to the beat up condition, why pay more for fake road wear?

i personally don't mind the look of the "road worn" fenders. IMO they aren't too bad but i wouldnt even buy one of them new. I understand the appeal of a roadworn bass but i couldnt understand the appeal for a road worn cab or amp. I haven't had my ampeg classic 410hlf a year and it is already worn. cart a cab around for a little while and it is bound to get a little beat up. narrow door ways, in and out of small cars it doesnt quite fit in. You can make a cab look worn naturally much quicker than you can make a bass look worn. just my 2 cents.

If you drag a cab up and down enough staircases, then you'll have some authentic road wear. There are plenty of used worn cabs out there...enough to fulfill this market I think.

I think it's better to add "Character" to the cab yourself. It gives you a sense of pride.

with all due respect, not everyone is buying a RW for the appearance, but in fact some buy them, IN SPITE of the appearance ... if you want the compilation of components, you will some times put up with the aesthetics ... and, a true vintage instrument, even if the price is 'lower due to the beat up condition' as you put it, is still several times more than a used RW would be ... JMHO

Honestly man, you need to stop. Some people love the Roadworn Fenders because they feel and play FANTASTICALLY. Some people dig the look and play them; some people don't dig the look and still play them. A bass is a bass, is a bass, is a bass. Don't hate on other people's opinions. That's a quick way to get an infraction or worse in these parts.

I think Fender made some tweed Bassman combo amps that had wear n tear to them. I think they were a pretty limited run. Kinda cool.

IIRC, they had even had a dirty beer can ring mark on the top.
