I think mainly because of cheaper labour costs. Kind of obvious that would have to make a big difference. Some of the parts in the Mexican made are not as good as the American made (they say) - pickups would be a good example. What people are saying about Roadworns is that they appear to be a significant step up in quality from previous Mexican made gear. Ultimately if you play it and it sounds and feels right doesnt matter where it comes from. There's a bit of "American made" snobbery going on and I think Fender count on that to distinguish the series.

I thought as in the MIM classic series all the hardware and pups in the roadworns were MIA. If not, there is no way in heck I would pay that price. To tell the truth I wouldnt pay the price I see on any road worn I would go MIA in a heartbeat. To me the great thing about MIMs used to be finding that gem that felt and sounded as good as any MIA for less than half the cost of american. Now with road worns and the new jump in the classic series prices the gap has narrowed and you might as well by MIA.
