Roadtripping to Austin, TX next week...

It's possible. Straw is friends with/worked with another sign painter or 2 up here and then I guess moved to Port A permanently. He used to work both here and there, on/off season. My girlfriend has known that whole circle of people for over 20 years. I've known her for 14 years and met them all through her.

Hi guys! Hope the OP finds my question OK, but I think it is complementary!

I'm also traveling to Austin for the second weekend of the Austin City Limits Fest, and I am doing some research,,

While I am there, I would love to go to the best guitar shop in town,,, I'm looking for a couple of bass pedals myself, and maybe the best record store (Jazz .. rock LPs)

Any suggestions would be very welcomed! Thanks!:smug:

To be honest all the shops here suck. Austin Vintage has the most fun stuff to look at. No place in town will have good bass pedals, except maybe the used cabinet in Guitar Center.

Local company that went from internet only to a brick and mortar about 2 years ago. It is close to my work, so I stop in on my lunch break occasionally. Mostly your standard low to mid level instruments. Nice folk, but not a great selection.

Ya, the guys at S Austin Music are great, and their prices aren't too crazy once you realize that what's on the tag isn't what they're going to end up charging. :)

Austin Vintage is fun of you want to look at lots of really expensive stuff hanging on the walls. Their repair guys are pretty good too, but that's probably not of interest to a visitor.

Bought a foam Gator case for my Ric there. Nice guys, pretty store. Not what I'd pick for inventory, but then again I like used. Which brings me to Austin Vintage and South Austin Music- both awesome stores. There used to be a Workhorse Guitars here where I bought an SVT for 500 years ago, but that's long gone. I wish I had a T shirt with the logo on it. Hindsight! Bill at South Austin is a good guy to talk to, and the service tech at Austin Vintage does amazing work (only had him work on my Les Paul but the work was spectacular).
