Roadtripping to Austin, TX next week...

Well I'm here. Just got in. The drive from OKC was supposed to take 6 hours but ended up taking 8.5 due to terrible traffic and tons of accidents. I've never seen so many accidents involving FIRE TRUCKS on one road trip. :rollno:

Time to find a brewpub, maybe some music. I'm at the Omni downtown so it looks like I can walk to a lot.

Ended up at Old School Bar and Grill which was pretty good. Wandered around, saw some bats, but it was late so they were hard to see. People watched then went to bed.

Now off to explore in the heat...

WC Clark is at Saxon Pub if you're into that. It'd be a pretty long-ish walk, or very short drive from downtown.

Find a copy of the Austin Chronicle down there. That's our local alternative free rag that has all the local music listings.

Buddy Guy tonight...

Just tried to go to our rooftop pool which has an incredible view of the city. Unfortunately, it looked like MTV spring break:

Ugh. At least 3 dozen twenty-somethings literally taking up every available seat around the pool and clogging the entire pool with their tan, attractive bodies. I'm way too fat and in-my-30s for that scene. My wife and I left.

I had a great happy hour dinner at Malaga Tapas & Bar. The happy hour tapas are only $4 and quite good. Tried one off the regular menu as well, plus dessert. Sangria $4 a glass during happy hour and it's quite good and reasonably strong. I make my own, so I'm picky, but it was good.
Austin peeps, check it out.
