It seems I've upset a few people, so I'd like to clarify what I meant and to apologise to those I've upset:

My point was that I, personally, don't think it's cool to abuse gear, and that I think it's important to respect our and others' possessions. This is my opinion, not me stating how one should live one's life.

I apologise if I came across as preachy or controlling, but that absolutely was not my intention.

I as talking about the bass being knocked off the stand. As 'Scourgeofgod' said, it was an accident. I admit that, on second viewing, it does look like an accident.

All I said was that I think it's important to look after things.
