Rob Allen ordered, pics!!!

Yes I'm sure, I tried a 5 strings 2 weeks ago here, at an Italian Bass Players meeting, and I was amazed.
Back home, I've read the Bass Player review of Feb 98, and I decided to contact Rob.
KJung told me it's really a great bass, so I ended up ordering this one....
It must be delightful!!!
Can you post pics of yours?
I know there are many threads, but...I've read them all!!!

Thank you Kjung!!! Mine will be really different from your, wood-wise, but from what Rob has explained to me, tone is very similar due to the wood selection and chambers routing in the body!!!

Hehe, already saved on my "Rob Allen pics" folder...
Stunning bass your, maybe one of the hottest Allen I've seen, but I choose to stay simple, between the no top look of my bubinga Tobias, and the crazy maple on my Fodera, I opted for something in the middle, nice but not so figured.

To all RA owners-lovers: it's clearly not an Urb, nor is a fretless, regarding sound, but he has the best of both worlds...in what context are U using it?
There are some sample on TB made by an owner, cannot remember his nick, and it seems to be really much more versatile than expected, it can approach a woody upright tone and almost do the Jaco things...
I'll be using it mainly with my AI Focus and Acme Low B 1 (with maybe another Acme, or my Accugroove Tri 210 for biggest gigs...), it must be a nice combo with the RA...

Fretless, on the photo I posted the neck is the cocobolo one, in the 1st pic..it has fretlines in it, good, 'cause I'm really not Gary Willis on fretless (nor I am on fretted...)

Yeah, you really can pull a lot of different sounds from it. From mellow to really punchy slap, to a sweet singing ring. My amp offers A LOT of control over the EQ, and I've got a nice compressor to play with too, so that helps. Still... right now I'm seeming to get better sound out of the house speakers at the church than through my cab.

I'm thinking (very strongly) of doing an Avalon U5 into a powerful solid-state power amp and then into a couple Accugroove cabinets to really get the most out of my bass. I've got a lot of auditioning and research to do before I settle on that, however. Definitely gonna do something like that, though. Finances are making this maybe a four-month from now wait.

Keeping my Cirrus around 'cause I like to play with the E-bow. And, well... it doesn't hurt to have a back-up.

I'm sure I'll do some experiment with some foam in front of the bridge, to dampen the sustain a little, when I tried my friend's Allen, with a little right hand muting, it was very uprightesque, really acoustic and alive.
Not that it wasn't good in non muted playing, but maybe I'll buy a bassmute for extended tonal options!!!
