Rock Band with Female Singer

I can agree on point 1, however I believe point 2 is the exact opposite of the truth.

I didn't say they were NOT cliched at all, just not overly so. I mean, every pop band is gonna have some cliches that they fall into. Its almost asking too much to have a pop band that is completely original. However, I do find some originality in Hayley's vocal melodies and phrasing that is refreshing IMO. There aren't too many out there that sound like her. But, there are a lot that wish they did.

In my opinion, The Pretenders (EARLY STUFF!!!) is some of the most killer, raw, rock going for it's time + Chrissie Hynde is an amazing singer!
  • Tattooed Love Boys
  • Stop Your Sobbing
  • Mystery Achievement
  • Bad Boys Get Spanked
  • Message Of Love
  • Talk Of The Town

I was in a female-fronted band for a few years and pretty much got my fill of the "Sarah Mclachlan/Natalie Merchant/Tori Amos" thing. Brilliant singers, each and every one, but just a little too much estrogen for me...

I also think that:
KT Tunstall
Pink
Susan Tedeschi (<= Could probably give Robert Plant a run for his money with the blues-rock thing!)

...are currently some really to-notch rockers.

Reaching to the Reagan Rock era:
Chrissy Amphlett (Divinyls) had some cool stuff
Missing Persons (Dale Bozzio - a big 'wavey', but cool)
Garbage
Portishead
PJ Harvey
Courtney Love (Hole)
The Breeders

But #1 on my list is still early era Pretenders!
