Roland Revo Cab

Hey all,

i picked up a Roland Revo RD 150-L cab the other day...with a VK-6 roland organ...

the cab is a weird setup whereby its own amp is powered via an 8-pin cord from the organ, which also controls an inbuilt reverb tank, leslie speaker simulator effect and speed,depth, trem etc etc. Pretty cool piece of kit actually!

But...the cab has to be powered and run via the organ...which means playing bass through an organ through a cab which isn't really ideal.

There was (in the 70s/80s) available a roland 'RC-1 control box' which you could use to run the speaker cab without the organ....which would be ideal if i could find one!

So question is - does anyone have, or know of one anywhere - a Roland revo RC-1 control box?(its not the modern RC1 loop station btw)

the cab sounds really good - im playing a clone '76 MM preamp and SD SMB-4a on a OLP MM 4 string and hofner flats - very happy with the sounds, just want to use it without an organ!

I've since sold the organ - and found a schematic to build an RC-1....so if all else fails is have to build one up.

Hey mkd, I have a couple buddies that rebuild and repair everything Leslie oriented and one of them plays guitar and has experience with Roland guitar synth stuff. I'll ask when I get by there in the next day or two. Obviously building the box is the the to go but, whether you can build it yourself or have to pay someone to do it might be a obstacle but still do able. Audio and power in the same cable is what Leslie's use. Ill bet you (or your tech) could locate audio input leads and power leads and Hotwire it!

hey Kirk, cheers for the reply - yep i've built the box already, but haven't operated on the cab yet - thought I'd try another last-ditch effort to find an actual RC-1 before i start cutting & soldering!
The new design is split into 5pin mic lead for signal only, and standard amp/'jug cord' plug & lead for the cab power, so no power through signal lead as per the original. if i cut into the cab it means i cant use an original RC1 if i find one, so im holding out.

but...also dont have an amp at the moment, so need to get it working!

Hey everyone. This is my first post here. I have 2 Roland RC-1 units here – they have come into my possession through a gear hoarder family member I knew who passed away recently. Anyone interested in them?

1 is intact and another has its back off. I even have the weird cable. I haven’t been able to test them but they should be ok. Let me know if anyone wants them.

I bought a revo 120 this week, the amp sound is quite good, but there is no leslie effect working, does someone have a technical description so that ik can try to fix it? kind regards Paul

I have the cabinet and I works i by passed the amp in it because I don’t have the rc1 control box. If you have one I would greatly appreciate it or a pdf of the wiring so I can build one
