Roland VB-99

Hey Fokof, so I loaded your patches into my VB-99. Thanks again. One question though, my favorite, your Uprite plays through all the strings on my six string but the high C. All the other patches cover all six strings and nothing obvious changes in settings when I put it on Uprite. Any idea why this one patch of all my patches won't play on the C string.

Hi Taowin,

that's a volume setting per string in the COSM-BASS section, the HI-C (or whatever it is called, i'm @ work now so i cannot look it up for ya right now) will be set to zero (that's why it doesn't sound, i had the same issue), set it to 100 and there u go!

Have fun!

Cheers,
Harry

Great. That did it. And I had to do it to both the A and B bass, and in the process learned a bit more about the system. BTW I use this bass mute on my six and seven string basses. It is ingenious and wonderful and makes the uprights sound even more uprightish. The BassMute - An innovative muting device for the Bass Player

Ellio is a fellow countryman of yours.
And mostly I play upright, I have a fully carved 3/4 and play more jazz than anything.

Best,

Jeremy

All my bass are fiver so I never check the High C.

Every patch you download from me can have this suspected problems ! Watch out

Hey you guys can post some too , you know. :smug:

A little tip if you use your mag sound on an engine and a simulation on the other one:

- put a 6ms delay on the engine your mag is.
(You'll hear it right away in the low frequencies)

It resolves a phasing issue when mixing both mag and sim basses.
If you use mag and sim on the same engine , this tip doesn't apply.

The delay is on the mixer.

PS: it's the same phenomena that happens when using a Mike + a DI but with a higher value

Hey everyone,
I'm sure this is some easy thing I'm just not seeing, but I'm not finding it and need your help.

On my VB-99, I want it to have total presets sent from my FC-300 controller. I had no problem setting up patches that work in the FC-300's patch or standard mode, but I lose the control 1 & 2 switches and both expression pedals (which always work fine in the FC-300's SysEx mode).

What's the magic solution?

Many thanks!

A tip if you want to check if everything is good with your VB99 is the "check sum"

Fire up the VB99 while holding down the Name/Key/BPM and the >page buttons.

You'll have 18 pages of different tests to check if everything is OK.

Hi Fokof,

thanks for the useful tip!

However there is a slight mistake in "Fire up the VB99 while holding down the Name/Key/BPM and the >page buttons." this will set you right to page 14 (if i remember well), the appropriate button combination for access to all 18 pages is: "the Name/Key/BPM and the <page buttons." with the "<" button as the difference, that will set you on page 1.

But nevertheless thanks for sharing! I re-adjusted my zero point setting for the Ribbon controller, it didn't got to zero, but to 4 as the minimum.

Cheers,
Harry

I haven't been using my VB-99 lately but I'm getting back on it soon.

I only have a question: How do I control certain LFO's with an expression pedal? I've never been able to get around this.

I'm trying to see if I can get a good dubstep wobble with the machine so I'm going back to reading the manual.

Try this

I used control 7 and 9 with the "wave pedal"
It's basicaly an automatic expression pedal wich can be assigned to whatever parameter.

If you want to assign from an EV5 in the VB99
= control assign / EXP (page 4)/ choose what parameter you want ( X2 )
